Hey gang, Valkor here. When I first purchased my Nintendo Switch, along with it, I picked up a pro controller. But I didn't use it until a year later, at which point I discovered the difference between using the Pro controller and the joycons. And what a difference! The experience was overwhelmingly better! Since then, I've gone through multiple controllers such as the YESOJO wireless. PDP has returned to the cave and exhibited not only a fantastic controller but also one with some flair. Let's check out the PDP AfterGlow Wave Wireless controller for the Nintendo Switch!

At the outset, the AfterGlow Wave controller looks the same size as the Nintendo Pro controller, even with similar button placement. What separates the two is the AfterGlow Wave RGB color zones, which are along the side and on the thumb pads. Then there are the two buttons on the rear, which can be programmed to do whatever you want with them. It would seem that shooters would benefit from these buttons. And given that the AfterGlow Wave controller is wireless, it comes with 2100 mAh and touts a 20-hour battery life. It weighs roughly the same as the Nintendo Controller; the Pro Controller, to me, feels heavier. The only thing that separates the two is how the AfterGlow Wave stands out.

As excited as I was about the look of the AfterGlow Wave, I'm more interested in how it plays. So, I popped in Streets of Rage 4. I wanted to test how well the controller worked with a button-heavy game. I noticed that the AfterGlow is not as soft to the touch as the Pro Controller. Yet, it still has a nice feel and it's spot on when detecting my hits and specials with no delays or hiccups. Now, I don't normally play with the lights off. But with this controller, I think it screams that I dim them to enjoy the AfterGlow effects. Other than that, let's dig into the TOV Breakdown and see how PDP does in another Val-Cave run!

The Bang:
I'd normally start a review by talking about the controller's controls! But I'll hold off on that to talk about how the PDP AfterGlow Wave controller looks. And I must admit that the AfterGlow Wave looks fantastic with the glowing RGB light effects! The colors are vivid and shine in your hands! Among all of the controllers in the Val-Cave repertoire, this is my new favorite by looks alone. As for how well the AfterGlow Wave controls, I'd say it does a damn good job! I have no trouble controlling my on-screen characters, and it feels just as good as the Nintendo Pro Controller. When pressing the buttons, it does feel a bit hollow. But, to me, that's not a deal breaker so long as the controller handles well. And this one handles so well! In the end the PDP AfterGlow Wave controller not only has style but it plays nice with just about anything you toss at it.

The Slack:
N/A

The PDP AfterGlow Wave wireless controller is available now. And the price is pretty decent with multiple colors to choose from. As you can see from the pics, I chose purple. But that's because I'm running with a theme on recent reviews. In any case, I strongly recommend this if you want to add a little shine to your game and add a stylish controller. And out of TOV 5 stars, I'm giving the PDP AfterGlow wireless controller a 4.5.
