Hey folks, Valkor here. On my normal commute, I'm usually within the confines of a city train, bus, or taxi and I like to drown out everything that's around me because it's usually unpleasant. Not always, but when people start speaking way to loud on their phones, kids start screaming, or an argument breaks out over… I don't really care, then I just wanna tune all it out, putting the music on full blast. But at times I need to be on foot, especially when I'm traversing the New York City streets and having a thumping soundtrack in your ears isn't always beneficial, especially when crossing those busy streets. Well the folks at db Logic have entered the Val-Cave with an impressive piece of earphone technology that the ears of both the young and old can appreciate. Check it out it's the Ep-100 earplugs with SPL2 technology.
Rather than take things into my own hands, I'll let the folks at db Logic explain SPL2 technology that's within the EP-100 earplugs:

"Standing for Sound Pressure Limiting Technology, SPL2 reduces users' exposure to sound wave pressures by limiting them to 85 decibels (db), based on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and European Union (EU) guidelines. Though limiting the pressure, SPL2 technology carries the clear sound you want to hear without distortion, clipping or interference by modifying the original sound wave while closely matching the original profile".
In short – loud sounds go in, soft sounds come out with the same clarity. Most of the time, when were hoppin and boppin through city streets, we tend to get lost in our own musical world and well… accidents happen. It only takes a second to step off the curb onto moving traffic without being fully aware of your surrounds and SPLAT! Instant pancake! With the Ep-100 earphones, you get the same crisp clear sound, lower on the decibels, so that you're not only capable of focusing around you, but also enjoy your tunes. And top of it all, the SPL2 technology promotes healthy hearing; it's hard to resist cranking the volume full blast, especially when on a commute, but the downside to that is that annoying ringing in your ears. With the EP-100, you can enjoy your music (with limited noise isolation) without worry. Trust me your ears will appreciate it.

Now I won't be comparing the EP-100s to other headphones I've tested as these earphones serve a different purpose. Also the EP-100s comes in an assortment of colors - blue, red, green, pink, orange and silver and require no additional batteries or hardware. So with that out of the way, let's see how well they did in the TOV Breakdown.
The Bang:
db Logic's EP-100 earphones are meant for those who put the health of their hearing to the forefront - as we all should. Thanks to the SPL2 technology, no matter how loud you turn up the volume, these babies will bring it down to easy listening levels. Sound quality is amazingly crisp and clean with a rich bass, which is a surprise given the low range in audio. I was also impressed with the limited noise isolation; by limited I mean it doesn't do a near complete block out like say with the Vibratos, but it blocks out just the right amount of sound that made my commute bearable, yet allows in just enough that I won't miss something important, say like a PA announcement, or the honk of a car horn. db Logic... I am impressed.

The Slack:
The cord gets tangled rather easily, plus it has that feeling that it can snap at any given time.

Overall db Logic's EP-100 earphones with SPL2 technology are a clear winner in the Val-Cave and a must own for anyone who wants to start taking care of their hearing – and I'm one of them; but you gotta take that first step and db Logic's EP-100 earphones are a step in the right direction when it comes to healthy hearing. And out of TOV 5 stars, I give the EP-100 earphones a 4 and they've been Valkor tested, TOV Approved!
