• PerfectView: The Women of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Hey gang, Valkor here. If you’ve been lurking the pages of TOV lately, you might have noticed a sudden change in one area – PerfectView; it’s the place where we showcased/commented on some of the loveliest of females the celebrity world has to offer. Well due to circumstances beyond my control, we had to take down the majority of the pages and start anew. Actually this is a good thing because I can take PerfectView in the direction I truly wanted. For the longest while I’ve always wanted to showcase women of a particular series, amateur models and even take images of my own much like what I do when I attend CES or E3. So going forward expect more of that. Now if there is a particular model you think deserves some shine or if you yourself is that model, then don’t hesitate to drop me a line using the email below.

So let’s get things started with the first new article for the all-new PerfectView. If you’re a fan of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” aka the “MCU”, then you should be quite familiar with one of its side shows that’s about to enter its 3rd season – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I’ve been following the show since its premiere and I haven’t been disappointed since. The show crams a lot of action and drama into its one hour time slot plus it fluidly connects with the much larger films. And while solid stories, great action and awesome continuity are all well and good, I’m even more pleased with the casting choices – especially with the ladies. And there’s visual eyecandy aplenty in almost every scene. And not only do they look great but they kick a lot of ass – especially Melinda May played Ming-na Wen. But that’s getting ahead of myself; so let’s get on with the show shall we. Information in quotes is provided by the Marvel website (link unavailable) of the series, which you can visit by clicking the highlight link or logo to the right. Also the series enters Season 3 on ABC September 29th (check your local listings for times).

About Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (taken from the show's IMDB page) - After the Battle of New York, the world has changed. It now knows not only about the Avengers, but also the powerful menaces that require those superheroes and more to face them. In response, Phil Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division assembles an elite covert team to find and deal with these threats wherever they are found. With a world rapidly becoming more bizarre and dangerous than ever before as the supervillains arise, these agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are ready to take them on.

Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) - Agent May is an expert pilot and martial artist. Though she was once a legend in the agency, she mysteriously resigned herself to a quiet desk job in recent years. May is called "The Calvary" for a reason - she swoops into a situation and gets shit done without holding back. She's Coulson's one true confidant, but who knows where that trust will lead after the events of season two. As an actor, Ming-Na is a favorite; I've loved her work since "The Joy Luck Club" (yea I watched it! Do somethin!). And even "Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within" should get a nod. It wasn't a terrible movie... not really. Anyway, May is my favorite character on the show and she'll continue to be my favorite even if she leaves. I'll still have two and some odd seasons to enjoy her presence.

Skye aka Daisy aka Quake (Chloe Bennet) - Computer hacker Skye has a vast knowledge of code. Some would call her a free spirit, others a disruptive anarchist. But all agree on her uncanny ability to gain the upper hand through wit and charm. Skye's background is also something rare to S.H.I.E.L.D.: a mystery. I was a little put off by Skye's role in the beginning (just a little); I wasn't exactly sure what her role was and how it would play out in future episodes. But it actually worked out quite well. And just when I thought the book had closed on her - it freaking explodes back open bursting with Inhumans! And I'm all for seeing Daisy aka Quake at her full potential. Chloe Bennet is adorable and she'll always be Skye to me, but I'm looking forward in seeing how her character develops. And I hope she gets to fight alongside the big boys (The Avengers).

Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) - Genius bio-chemist Jemma Simmons is a rising star in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s research division, along with her inseparable friend and partner, Leo Fitz. The two are usually found bickering, but they are always found together. Simmons has a love for science and a wide-eyed enthusiasm for the world that make this opportunity to work in the field the adventure of a lifetime. Jemma brings a nice does of levity to a show that without her would be much more darker and way more serious. When we last saw Jemma at the end of season two, she was being sucked into the giant block now in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s possession. What exactly happened to her? We'll soon find out. I was hoping Henstridge was going to show up in Age of Ultron (I heard rumors to that effect), and I hope her character gets to have that chance because she would fit right in.

Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse (Adrianne Palicki) - Secretly implanted into HYDRA as head of security, Agent Bobbi Morse now fights along Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D. She not only brings with her awesome fighting abilities but she has excellent powers of persuasion. Palicki was the last of the TOV PerfectViews (before stuff went down), but thankfully she's not entirely off the TOV pages. I wish her Wonder Woman TV pilot had a taken off because she was amazing in the role (look it up online if you haven't seen it because it's out there). But I have to say, that ending in season two where she takes a bullet for Hunter - damn that was deep! I'm glad she made it through, but you can't deny the power of that scene. Thankfully, not only will we see more of Bobbi Morse in season three, but Palicki gets to star in the series spinoff "Marvel's Most Wanted"... and I'm OK with that!

Raina (Ruth Negga - (From the Wikipedia page) raised by Calvin Zabo, and grew up with stories of her heritage as an Inhuman, and her potential to be more. Becoming the Project Centipede recruiter due to her interest in powered people, Raina works with Hydra in an attempt to replicate the GH-325 serum that was used to resurrect Coulson. She eventually goes through Terrigenesis, gaining the power of precognition, but also a monstrous appearance. Raina comes to accept her new circumstances, and later allows Jiaying to kill her so that Skye can learn of the former's true intent. Ruth Negga was a surprise addition as season one kicked in; do I love this woman? Yes indeed I do! She killed it in "The Samaritan" with Sam Jackson. And from then on I've been a fan! The end of season two shows that Raina has something up her sleeve. And I'm quite curious to find out what her plans are. Covered in spiky thorns or not, I'm smitten with this kitten!
