Hey folks, Valkor here. When it comes to shooters, first or third, I've sorta gotten out of em. I know Call of Duty Black Ops is the shiz recently and who isn't a fan of Gears of Wars? Speaking of Gears, this next game has elements of the Gears series, but overall execution… wow! We're Talkin Quantum Theory from Tecmo Koei and if you haven't played this game yet, then you're better off.

Quantum Theory is a third person, run, shoot, and cover game, set in a post-apocalyptic world that centers on Syd – a gruffy, bad ass mofo hell bent on taking down some towers. The game starts with him and a female character Filena, who are in the midst of taking down a tower (which also acts as a nice tutorial) and it goes on from there with an elite group to take down more towers. As Syd you have a wide variety of weapons at your disposale and you can even use Filena as weapon, tossing her into enemies. You'll spend a lot of time taking cover and popping up to take out the baddies until you reach your anti-climatic goal.

The Single player is short, but the game also features online play, which I'll be honest I didn't try. Why? I simply didn't wanna play the game anymore.

The Good:
For the most part there are some things that work for Quantum theory. The controls are kinda shaky, but pretty responsive, there are some moves that I'll explain in the next section that I didn't find appealing at all. This game is pretty much run, cover, shoot, repeat; so repetitive yes, but there's enough going on to keep you going. The music is cinematic, nothing too memorable but it works for keeping the flow of the game going, the sound effects are sharp and clear, and the graphics are a bit too busy, but clear and visually appealing; believe me I've seen worse. With that out of the way…

The Bad:
My biggest, absolute biggest complaints are the weapons – one in particular is the shotgun. A shotgun sprays, and if you're in close enough it's supposed to do some damage. In this game, you couldn't hit a target with the shotgun even if you tried. I was so disappointed because in any shooter, the shotgun maybe slow, but it's supposed to be bad ass nonetheless. However in this game… "sigh". Next the controls are responsive, but Syd's moves are too clunky and slow – even when running. My major gripe with the controls is that the cover and dodge button were the same, so at times when I wanna cover, I end up going elsewhere. Next, I assume the story isn't the major selling point of this game as it does nothing to keep me vested in the characters; Syd is rather cookie-cutter of any first person shooter character, and while Filena changes things up a bit and she's supposed to be of some sorta love interest, the whole thing falls rather flat.

The Ugly:
N/A

Bad movies I can handle, but a bad video game I just won't tolerate and neither should you. Quantum Theory, I'm sure will not only make my "worst of…" list this year, but many other sites as well. It's not completely unplayable; it's just not worth the effort when there are better titles out there you could be playing. So out of TOV 5 stars, I give Quantum Theory a 1.5.
