• Audio-Technica QuietPoint ATH-ANC3 Review

Valkor conveniently dropped the QuietPoint ATH-ANC3 headphones off right before my 7hr trip across the states. These QuietPoint earbuds from Audio-Technica can reduce noise by 85%, Freq between 15 – 22 KHz, and have a very good battery life (an average of 50hrs). The active noise reduction is up to 20 dB, but you can read that right from the box. Now before I start, I have to say me and ear buds don't get along. I have tried many times and every time I have issues with them; as soon as I put them on, any slight movement, and they'll usually fall out. I'd get annoyed and would give 'em away. My experience was different with these headphones. It was like they were built for me. The actual piece that goes in your ear is at an angle and fits right in. I got up and moved around with no problem because the clip held it all in place. The cable length was just right so I didn't have to adjust so much.

What's in the Box:

  • ATH-ANC3 Noise Canceling headphones
  • Gold-plated Airline adapter
  • Protective carrying case
  • Replaceable rubber ear buds
  • Mini-stereo plug/jack – Gold plated 3.5mm
  • AAA Battery
  • User Guide

The Bang:

I used them for 7hrs straight and they didn't move. They didn't annoy me and if I needed to listen to flight announcements it has a monitor button that lowered the music and stopped noise canceling. On the control box is a clip that makes it easy to reach and keeps snug on my collar/pocket. The case has room for everything in the box plus an ipod or a midsized Mp3 player.

The Slack:

Not bad - just a badly lit airplane. It took me a while to find which side was which on the actual headphones because the 'L' & 'R' are really tiny. I am used to using full ear headphones and I did notice a difference in noise reduction quality, but because of the size and comfort. I didn't see it as a negative.

The End:

I have had my old headphones for a long time; they're large and they cancel noise very well but, I have now made the switch over to Audio-Technica ATH-ANC3. The noise canceling feature is decent, but the real perks are that they're great in comfort, small size and very light weight (the AAA battery was the only thing in there with any weight). I give it a TOV 5 out of 5 just for being really comfortable.
