Hey gang, Valkor here. And welcome back to another episode of TechView. This round, Status Audio is paying theur first visit into the Val-Cave with their latest earbuds, the Status Pro X. And while I have a slight issue with audio quality. It’s still a worthy contender in the audio market. Let's dive in!s

From the outset, the Pro X ear buds offer up a unique yet ergonomic design that sits well in your ears with zero slipping. Within the Pro X it comes stacked with features such as Bluetooth 5.3 with Multipoint, hi-res triple drivers, IP55 protection for dust and water resistance, Active Noise Canceling (ANC3), and a host of others. The Pro X comes included with a pill box carrying case that features an LED light that showcases the status of the case – if it's battery life is on the high (white) or low (red). And speaking of batter life, the Pro X touts that it can go the distance for 8 hours, with 32 for the case. Once the set arrived, I gave it a full charge. And didn't go for a recharge until days later. For travel or commuting, the case fits easily in any pocket, bag, or purse, and the buds are held in place, within the case, by a magnetic connection.

I had mixed results when it came to setting up the Status Pro X. I started testing with my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. And I found that if Bluetooth was off, and I removed the buds from the case, and then switched on Bluetooth, the buds would not connect. So then, I placed the buds back in their case, turned Bluetooth on first, removed the Pro X buds from the case and voila! They connected! I repeated both methods numerous times, all with the same results. I thought the same would happen when I switched over to my HP Omen 15 laptop. However, the buds connected straight away, with no issues. It even prompted if I wanted to connect both buds, which I thought was funny. Now, I haven't been able to repeat the S23 experience on any other device. And It's not off-putting. But more like a slight annoyance.

Finally, to enhance your listening experience with the Status Pro X, you'll want to download the Status app that comes with a host of features such as an custom equalizer, the ability to switch audio profiles, adjust the touch controls, and it will even help you locate your bud(s) in case they're lost or misplaced. So, after spending some time with the Status Pro X earbuds, I'm ready to give my verdict in the TOV Breakdown.

The Bang:
Status deserves all of the accolades for putting out a solid set of ear buds with the Pro X. First up, sound quality is beautiful with one slight hiccup that I'll talk about in the next section. But once you turn these beauties on, get ready to be immersed in clear sound and a rich, smooth bass. As a commuter, I love the active noise canceling that the Pro X offers up, because it does a great job of drowning out the majority of background noises, leaving you at peace with your thoughts and your tunes. As far as comfort goes, the Pro X sits well in my ears. The already attached medium ear tips are perfect. But you get two additional sizes in case the medium doesn't work. And there was no slippage whether I was running for the bus or train or just having a leisurely walk. Rounding out this section, the battery life with the Pro X is damn good as they can go the distance and then some. The fact that you get 32 hours of charge with the case means you'll be spending more time enjoying your tunes rather than having to top up. Additionally, I enjoy the call quality of the buds because voices in both directions sound clear. In the end, for their first time in The Cave, Status gets mad props for their Pro X ear buds, which not only offers up a neat design, but they bring along awesome sound quality and comfort!

The Slack:
While I have my issues with the Bluetooth connection, my concern with the Pro X is that the audio quality is slightly sharper than what I'm used to. It's nothing that's annoying, but it is noticeable, especially when the volume is high. I'm certain a future firmware update could correct this issue. Or maybe if I play with the equalizer a bit. Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, I'll stay connected to see if there's improvement.

The Status Pro X Ear Buds are available now for the price $299. And if you ask me, it's worth the price of admission. You get great sound quality and comfort with an amazing battery life that's all within a neat package. Even with the slight sharpness in audio, I still highly recommend giving this one a go. So, out of TOV 5 stars, I'm giving the Status Pro X Ear Buds a 4.
