• The Dark Knight Rises Preview

Hey folks, Valkor here. On July 20th, the world will lay witness to the finale, in what will sure go down as the most epic movie franchise on the face of this earth – and it ain't Harry Potter because that's done and done. I can't wait for the reboot, which will most assuredly happen within my lifetime. No my friends, I'm talking about the 3rd outing in Christopher Nolan's Batman series – The Dark Knight Rises. Am I excited? More so than I was with the Avengers (so glad that turned out to be awesome). And from what I've seen thus far, TDKR looks to rock the summer and all of 2012.

The Dark Knight Rises

The Synopsis (taken from the press release) - Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The Enemy

Fucking Bane!! And I've been telling my friends Bane could work in the Nolanverse and now it's happening. Though I'm not sure exactly which direction the character is taking - it looks to be a mix of "Vengeance of Bane" and "Knightfall"; on the one hand he appears super smart and not too bulky, yet he has that mask that injects a gas into his system. Is it venom? No one knows for sure. Either way, he's gonna cause a ton of damage. Next is Catwoman/Selina Kyle, possible love interest and all-around thorn in Batman's side. Hathaway has some serious shoes to fill since Michelle Pfeiffer all but dominated the role. Still I think she can pull it off, plus from the trailers she looks to be having a lot of fun playing the part. Next we have Ra's Al Ghul. Nolan said he wanted to bring the trilogy full circle and having Liam Neeson back all but assures it. But that's the surprise right, because we don't know what role Ra's will play in the film. Is it just a flashback or something else entirely? There's also rumor of Thalia Al Ghul showing up, but nothing in the press releases, trailers, or images confirms such an appearance. Is it possible that there's maybe one too many major villains in the film? It would appear that way, but I have faith in Nolan's ability to turn this into an awesome story.

itsjustsomerandomguy The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer:

Valkor's Thoughts: Ever since The Dark Knight earned mad accolades, scored oodles of cash making it one of the top films of all time, and even earning Heath Ledger a posthumous Oscar award, my thinking is that expectations are simply too high on this one and people might just walk away slightly disappointed - there are folks out there who want TDKR to be better than TDK. I don't want that. TDK was awesome, way, way better than anyone expected. So I don't expect Nolan to try and top himself. i want him to simply make his film and make it entertaining - that's it. By keeping the original cast in order and bringing in some new faces, especially Bane - shit, I think he's gonna hit this one out the ballpark and beyond. Better than TDK? Maybe. But I don't care either way; I just want a great film I can enjoy.

Official Trailer #1

Post TDKR: Rumor has it that this will truly be the end of Nolan's trilogy and that Batman/Bruce Wayne is supposed to die in the finale. Personally, I don't see that happening. Bale has gone on record stating he's up for a fourth film, should Nolan decide to do another one. And trutheshly? I think Nolan can squeeze out one more. And if not Nolan, I'm sure there will be others primed and ready to take the mantle. Would it be as good as the Nolan's trilogy? It doesn't have to be! It simply needs to stay true to the source and respect all what Nolan brought to the table. We don't need another Schumacher screwing things up.

Official Trailer #3
