Have folks, Valkor here. This year is the first year TOV was able to attend Toy fair 2009, over at the Jacob Javitz Center in NYC. It’s an event I’ve always wanted to attend and when the chance came up to go… well I couldn’t hold back. This is the first review from the show, with a full review of the event on its way. Until then, let me introduce you to “The Cricket Toy”.
Has this ever happened to you: You’re on a date, first date, and you say something so goofy that you date just goes silent? Or how about you tell an inappropriate joke at an inappropriate time (you know the kind, the ones of a sexual nature or the Two Jews walk into a bar)? Or what if you need the perfect ice-breaker, something that will lock you in on any given situation? If you answered yes to any of these then you need “The Cricket Toy”. The Cricket toy is simply a bug looking piece of rubber with a nub at the top that you press to give you that cricket chirp. You know the kind that happens in cartoons when Daffy Duck’s jokes just to carry with the audience. It seems kind of silly, but the concept actually works. How so? Well I had to give it a full test in real life situations, which means that yes I eagerly awaited any given situation where I could use the Cricket. So how did it do?
Laughs all around! The Cricket was an unexpected surprise. Used wisely you’ll have your ice breaker or the banisher of the awkward pause on that date where it seems things are not going so well, or to simply be the life of the party. I enjoyed showing it off to friends and believe me it was well received. Initially it isn’t loud, but if you cup your hands, for some reason, it gets louder. Funny, funny stuff.
The nub is a bit too hard and will definitely take some getting used to.
If you’re a goof like me, then you’ll definitely want to pick up the Cricket toy for shits and giggles; or for the stuff that I mentioned above. So out of TOV 5 stars, I’m give The Cricket 4 stars, pick one up when you see it at a retailer near you.
