Hey folks, Valkor here. Love is in the air this week thanks to the folks at Warner Home, who are about to let loose unto the masses a romantic comedy of epic proportions with an extraordinary ensemble cast, all under the direction of the great Garry Marshall. I'm talking about "Valentine's Day". TOV's own Epic-1 reviewed the feature and you can read his review [HERE]. And now you can bring the magic home in a special Blu-Ray Combo pack.
Valentine's day brings together one HUGE ensemble of a cast, revolving around that one magical day of the year – well, Valentine's day. Each character brings their own story to the mix and while it's vast and varied, it's cohesive and works. That fact that all of these stories can be told in just a few hours is nothing short of a miracle. Plus there're tons of surprises you literally won't see coming and when they happen it's like "whoa!"
Ashton Kutcher (Reed) and Jennifer Garner (Julia) – Best friends who ultimately realize they belong together when their respective relationships don't work out as planned.
Jamie Foxx (Calvin) and Jessica Biel (Kara) – Foxx plays a sports reporter and Biel does P.R. in the film. The two are linked to an announcement made by one Sean Jackson (Eric Dane). The also have one other thing in common – they both hate Valentine's day. And yet, somehow they find each other.
Topher Grace (Jason) and Anne Hathaway (Liz) – The two have only been dating for two weeks; Jason tries to find out what to do for Liz on this special day and Liz doesn't tell Jason that she's a phone sex operator. Won't he be surprised!
Taylor Lautner (Willie) and Taylor Swift (Felicia) – High School sweethearts, whose best friends are about to have sex for the first time, and while Willie wants to bang the drum slowly with Felicia, she prefers to wait.
Emma Roberts (Grace) and Carter Jenkins (Alex) – Another pair of high school sweethearts who are planning their first time "getting it on", but they learn that you can't make magic happen.
Shirley Maclaine (Estelle) and Hector Elizondo (Edgar) – couple married for years, but their perfect marriage comes to a close when Estelle reveals that she's been less than faithful.
And last but certainly not least is Bryce Robinson (Edison) – his character who has a major crush; he visits Reed's florist shop to by that special someone flowers. But when they don't get delivered, he makes every effort to insure that he tells the lil lady that he loves her on Valentine's Day.
Finishing off this amazing film is a slew of cameo appearances such as Jessica Alba, George Lopez, Penny Marshall, Kathy Bates, Dwight Howard, Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Patrick Dempsey, Kristen Schaal, Anna Kulinova, and Matthew Walker just to name a few.
Extras include Blooper reels, deleted scenes, some behind the scene stuff and a music video by Jewel that perfectly complements this perfect film. And I can't believe I'm about to say this, but definitely, check out the extras, especially the deleted scenes. Some choice stuff is in there. Finally, since this is a combo pack, you also have the DVD and the digital copy of the film, so if you're at home or on the go, Warner's got you covered.
The Good:
I can't begin to tell you how amazing this film is. Not only is Garry and co able to keep track of all these individual tales, but to have so many A-list actors involved really completes the package. Everyone performs well with no one person really taking center stage or hamming it up. It's all about the love as well as the laughs my friends and the cast show it by bringing their A-Game to this one. The soundtrack also deserves some credit with some amazing tunes mixing old and new from Taylor Swift, Jewel, Maroon 5, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Percy Sledge, Foreigner, and Jamie Foxx. An awesome film, an awesome, cast, and awesome soundtrack makes for one awesome viewing experience.

Overall, Valentine's Day is a definite must see film that you'll want to share with that special someone, with a side of champagne and a warm blanket to snuggle under. And maybe some chocolate covered strawberries… maybe. But I can't say anything more about the awesomeness of this film except, out TOV 5 stars, I give Valentine's Day a perfect 5 stars and it's been Valkor tested, TOV Approved!
