• Corsair Void v2 Wireless Gaming Headphones Review

Hey gang, Valkor here. And welcome back to GameView, where this round we’ll be putting a piece of gaming tech through Val-Cave scrutiny. And coming to the TOV stage is a first-timer – Corsair. And with them, they're bringing along their latest Void v2 Wireless Gaming headphones. To put it in baseball terms, the Void v2 isn't a home run, but it's a definite triple, bringing a runner home. That means they've passed Val-cave testing. And I'll tell you all about it.

Corsair Void v2

From the outside, the Corsair Void v2 headphones look very gamer-centric; They sport a boxy design with streaks of RGB lights on either side. Normally, it's the right earcup that has all the buttons and such. But on the Void v2, they're found on the left. You get a mic that mutes when you flip it up. After that, behind the earcup, there's the power on/off/pair button. A multifunction button is located underneath the power button that I've used to start and pause my movies and music. Finally, beneath the cup, you have a USB-C port and a volume control. The Void v2 is well-cushioned and very lightweight, which is great for prolonged usage. Included with the Void v2 is a USB adapter, which you'll need if you want to hook up your headphones to a PC or PlayStation (PS4/5) console. With my HP Omen laptop, the headphones connected without any issues, minus the USB stick. However, with my PS5, at first, the console recognized the Void v2. However, it wouldn't connect. But when I attached the iCue USB stick, it instantly connected.

I've been looking to catch up with Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, as well as some gaming on STEAM. So, the arrival of Corsair's Void V2 headphones arrived at just the right time. I was disappointed with my previous review of the Skullcandy Icons. But this more than made up for it. And I'll tell you why with the TOV Breakdown.

The Bang:

Corsair is off to a good start in the Val-Cave with the Void V2 gaming headphones. They're mid-range, so don't expect anything that will blow you away. Nonetheless, they're still plenty impressive with excellent sound quality. And they're immersive enough to not only draw you into your game but hold you there until you're done. The bass levels are fire and thumps at all the right levels. Nothing out of the ordinary, but not so low as to make you want to change to another pair of headphones or lose interest. The Void v2 is said to have a 70-hour battery life, so you'll want to leave it on for the duration. At most, I've gone 20 hours (in more than one sitting) without recharging, placed the headphones down for a day, and picked them up for continued gaming. And they were still going strong. In the end, if you're looking for a pair of gaming headphones with excellent sound quality and a strong battery life, then consider adding Corsair's Void v2 Wireless into the mix.

The Slack:

As much as I like the look of the RGB lights on the Void v2, I can't see them working any other way other than when one is streaming. Otherwise, I don't get to enjoy the light show unless I'm playing in the dark. Maybe. I haven't tried them in the dark... yet.

This was my first run with Corsair and their Void lineup. And already, I'm impressed with the Void v2. Impressive sound quality, lightweight, and long battery life, which ensures you'll be making a wise choice when adding these headphones to your gaming repertoire. I highly recommend it. So, out of TOV 5 stars, I'm giving the Corsair Void v2 Wireless Gaming headphones 4.5.
