Hey folks, Valkor here. Last week TOV got the chance to tour the floor of one of the hottest tech shows, Pepcom (this round the theme was "Parisian Holiday) and there was quite the turnout this time around. One company in particular, PDP Gaming, was showing off a host of gaming accessories as well as iPhone and iPod accessories. The gaming stuff comes later; for now we'll take a look at Marvel and Disney collector series cases for the iPhone and iPod.
First up is the Marvel Collector's Edition cases - this set goes out to the comic book lovers as we have eight cases each with a classic design ripped straight from the comics, featuring artist such as Jim Lee, John Romita Jr., and Jack Kirby to name a few. There's even Cap's shield from the latest film "Captain America: The First Avenger". The cases feature a satin grip coating (feels good to the hands… what?), and protects against small drops and scraps, anything more and... Well we won't get into that.
Next up is the Disney Collector series – same concept and design as the Marvel cases; this set, includes characters from Disney's past as well as the present. Character cases include classic Mickey, The Muppets, Cars Lightning McQueen, Jack Skellington from "The Nightmare before Christmas", Tron, and even Tinkerbell from "Peter Pan" (Where's my Captain hook???). There's just so many to choose from.
I was able to snag one case from each set – Animal of the Disney series and Wolverine from the Marvel series. So let's see how they well they did in the TOV Breakdown.
If you're looking to standout above the crowd (even if you have to shout out loud… wait where have I heard that… DAMN YOU GOOFY MOVIE!!), then these are the cases you'd be most interested in. The colors and the level of detail are sharp and bold, again they really stand out. This especially holds true to the Marvel cases, which for the most part, are a great representation to their comic counterparts, leaving nothing out save for the background… and I'm OK with that. As for the Disney cases, some will stand out more than others. The Animal case I have (for the iPod 4th generation) clearly leaps out at you – jaws will definitely drop when you whip this baby out.
There are only 8 covers showcased in the Marvel set. Where's my Fantastic Four? What about the other X-Men? Or if you really wanna be obscure, how about some Alpha Flight or Power Pack cases.
Either the Disney or the Marvel collector's cases can be purchased now through the website (just click the logo on the right), or through other retailers such as amazon.com. In any case, if you're a fan of either franchise or both, show you're love and pick up a case or three. And out of TOV 5 stars, I give the Marvel and Disney collector sets an easy 5 star perfect. Are you ready for round two PDP?
