The Latest and Greatest from DDR Games, a new wireless keypad for PS3 controllers with full QWERTY keys. Yes, finally an easy way to chat and web browse on the PS3. Perfect for some one who is used to texting, since the keypad a just bit larger than a blackberry's. A simple clamp will attach it to any Dual-Shock 3 or SIXAXIS wireless controller. The key pad is designed to sit at the top of your controller its very light weight so you don't feel the keypad pulling it forward. One feature I like is there is no on-off switch, which means if you don't touch it won't drain quickly. I started with web browsing and surfing YouTube then I escalated to updating my Twitter and Facebook and I did it with ease. It has a lithium battery and charges the same way as the PS3 controller; they both have the same connection type so you can interchange the cables.
- What's in the box:
- PS3 Wireless Keypad
- USB charger cable
- 2.4 GHz USB Receivers
The PS3 Wireless Keypad is small, lightweight, and it didn't interfere with any of my game play. I didn't feel it pulling forward on the controller or really notice that I had an attachment. It has its own independent power supply that last a long time. I have been chatting and YouTube surfing for 4 days now and I don't see a sign of low battery in the near future. Using it was very simple, it literally took just a few seconds to setup and I was typing away. The attachment is very sturdy and there is no reason to keep taking it off, and that good because I have a tendency to loose remotes.
If you're not used to texting then this might be a bit of a problem. The keys are very soft and go down quite a bit, when you press them, which you might lead you to fat fingering frustration but, trust me once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake.
This is a suggestion for the next series - dedicated delete key. I know space is limited but, it would have helped with correcting this last paragraph.
I recently discovered you can attach the dongle to your PC, so I typed this paragraph on the wireless keypad. It worked pretty good until I had to fix my misspellings and grammatical errors. I recommend this, If you like to enjoy the full features of your web surfing, movie watching, and Social networking on your PS3. I stood 30 ft away typing and all I had to do was point it in the general direction of the dongle and it picked it up with no problems. Charge the Key pad, connect the USB dongle, and once the PS3 recognizes your device your set to go. Out of TOV 5 stars I give Hyperkin's PS3 Wireless Keypad 4 out of 5 stars, for being able to surf with out hitting the X key 50 thousand times.
