Hey gang, Valkor here. In an attempt to expand my horizons here at TOV, I thought I'd attend an event that I would never really consider, because I didn't think I'd get anything out of it. Turns out I was wrong. By attending Rand's Luxury Review event, I not only got to chance to test ride/drink/taste some pretty swank products, but it also opened the door to some amazing networking possibilities. But overall was an evening filled with great food, great drink, great company, and a vast of amount of product to try out. Huge shout out to Greg Wilcox of "Destroy All Fanboys" for making it possible. Not only that, but the dude just made the entire event a blast. So without further ado, let's take a peek inside this luxurious event. If you want to know more about the companies, you need only click teh name for their official sites. And after the preview there's more pics to be seen of this amazing event.
Mission Motorcycle - Showing off the latest in electric motorcycles (100% electric, no gas powered here), Mission Motorcycle had rides to showcase – the Limited Edition Mission RS and the Mission R. Both have an amazingly sleek, futuristic design, an LCD dash, can reach speed speeds up to 150MPH and they're street legal with zero emissions. I just want one to have around the cave. I don't wanna ride it, I just want it for the eye-candy.
One Roq Premium Vodka – Before this event I was not the biggest fan of vodka; I hated the sting from the smell and the taste… that is until I discovered what good… no damn good vodka taste like. On tap I got the chance to sample the reserve, which I was a bit hesitant about it, but I have to say I was impressed with the smooth taste. There was also a punch that was so amazing; not too strong and you could barely taste the vodka. It's there but not overpowering.
Iride – Strike one: I screw up with the pronunciation of the name (it's pronounced "Erie-de") and my thinking is that it's pronounced like the many i-products on the market. Silly me! Strike two: I thought the steel frame was heavy. What do I know right? The frame was actually quite light with a sleek design. Sure the cost is staggering, but you're getting some fine Italian craftsmanship here.
Tequila Clase Azul – You'll notice a bit of a pattern here with a test a product, sample a drink motif. By the end of the night I was pretty toasted. But thankfully not before trying out the finest Tequila I've ever had the pleasure of sampling. Plus the handcrafted bottles have an amazing backstory. To give you an idea, in one image below you can make out an initial and a number, which corresponds to the person and the actual number of bottle that person made (in this case initial A.E. made 384 bottles). On tap was the La Pinta (which is a pomegranate mix), Clase Azul Plata (slow cooked, clear bottle), and Clasa Azul Reposado (aged 8 months). The Reposado was the strongest, but it taste delicious. If you're in NYC and you wanna get a glance at these cool bottles, then check out El Toro Blanco (257 Sixth Ave) as they use the bottles as lamps.
Puku – personal battery packs are all the raves and if you're not carrying one on your daily travels, then you need to because you'll never have to make a run for an outlet again so long as you have a fully charged battery on hand. Enter Puku with their amazingly sleek design and assorted color battery pack. They're giving you a battery that's 8,000 mAh, with two USB ports for dual charging of any two portable devices. Still not as powerful as Rosewill's RCBR, but that battery is like a brick. This one is sleeker and lighter. We'll have more from Puku in the near future, so stay tuned.
Disarrono – One of the finest, well-known mixes around, the folks at Disarrono didn't waste too much time going into detail, though there were reps on hand to answer questions. They did however have a bartender, who was really dishing it out this amazing pomegranate punch that was just… delicious.
House of Horology – Walking by a table where a bunch of watches are sitting in a jar of water begs the questions a) how long have they been sitting in there? And b) do they still work? The answers: 4 hours and yes, yes they do. That was my experience hanging with the gang from HoH as they showed off their debut "Bedlam" collection of watches; each one has their own signature look (i.e. Bedlam Dark, Bedlam Brown etc) and they're put together with some durable with military grade material that can take something of a pounding and it'll still be ready to wear for the finest affairs.
Elite Mobile Cigars – How do you complete a night of playing with expensive toys and drinking some of the finest? You gotta roll your own cigar, mon. And thanks to the gang at Elite Mobile Cigars, we just eked in the opportunity to do just that. Not only that, but they were also showing off some top quality Humidors. Last, but definitely not the least.
There were plenty of companies on hand, and while I don't want this piece to get way too lengthy, I'd still like to give a quick shout out to companies such as LG for swinging by with the G2 as well as some amazing 4K Ultra HD televisions, Tache Artisan Chocolate for the bomb "Spiced Chai Truffle" and Chivas Regal, because after drinking with those dudes, I was pretty much done. I'm looking forward to future events from Rand Luxury Review and we'll definitely have more from the mentioned companies above. Oh and enjoy the additional pics below.
