• Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NYC Showcase

Hey gang, Valkor here. While the CGI animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has ended, on the horizon is a new show, taking the mean green machine of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo back to their animated roots – Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And from what I’ve seen thus far, the show looks to be the perfect blend of cartoonish fun blended with all kinds of zany action. And in celebration of the series’ launch, Nickelodeon held an event at the Viacom building in NYC that showed off some of the new series as well as showcase some of the products we can expect to see around the show’s launch. And TOV was on hand for all of the shenanigans the event entailed, which included one of the voice actors from the show and of course the Turtles themselves.

Taken from the press release:

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles follows Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo on all-new adventures as they seek to unlock the mystical secrets of New York City. From the tallest skyscraper to the dankest sewer drain, the Turtles will encounter absurd new mutants and battle bizarre creatures all while enjoying their favorite slice of pizza. Tapping into mystic, ninja powers they never knew existed, the four brothers must learn to work together and navigate the perils of the modern age and hidden realms in order to fulfill their destiny to become a team of heroes.

The main event of the showcase were all the toys and accessories that were lined up around the room. And while I enjoyed getting an eyeful of all of the products, there were some definite favorites I'd like to point out. First up is the Shell Hog motorcycle, which is a work of art in and of itself. Not only does it look dope, but it also connects to the new Turtle Tank.

The new Turtle Tank looks to have a lot going on inside and out – and I mean that in a positive light. But to get right to the point, the tank is a two in one in that it goes from a tank to a mobile OP unit for Donny's lab. Plus it can attach and detach two Shell Hog cycles. So bad guys beware!

And speaking of baddies, take a look at the new villain, Baron Draxum (voiced by John Cena).

And we can’t forget our stars of the show, who’ll get an assortment of figures that go from 3.5” up to 10.5” tall (giant size).

To complete the event, Brandon Mychal Smith, who does the voice of Michelangelo was on hand, bringing with him all the enthusiasm that makes Mikey such a popular character. And if his energy was an indication as to what he’ll bring to the character, then we can expect a shell of a good time with the new series.

Rise of the TMNT

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will air on Nickelodeon on September 18th, 2018. As for the toys and such, look for them in October, just in time to kick off the holiday season. Enjoy all of the pics and sneak peek clips of the series, and look for more TMNT goodness in future coverage.
