Clash of the titans, a remake of a film from 1981, the story of Perseus (Sam Worthington) the son of Zeus (Liam Née son), is trying to save the city of Argos and the princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos) from Kraken. Released on 02 APR 2010, directed by Louis leterrier, yes the same guy who did Transporter 2 and Danny the Dog (Unleashed). We all know he can direct some serious action films, I even think they chose a good lead character Sam Worthington, the guy from Terminator Salvation. They made a great effort to bring together the old and the new; they even used Beverley Cross the original screenplay writer from 1981. This film has an A-list of action veterans and great actors.

Just like the 1981 version Perseus is found in a coffin by a family of fisherman, his mother Danae (Tine Stapefeldt) passed away. The gods are insulted by king Cepheus (Vincent Regan) and queen Cassiopeia (Polly Walker) of Argos and as punishment they are going to release the Kraken. Perseus goes to the stygian witches to find out how to defeat the kraken, and is told that medusas head will turn all flesh to stone. We all know how the story goes, but there are new additions to the story, how the gods became gods with the help of hades's (Ralph Fiennes) Kraken in the battle of against the Titans. Perseus new family is killed by Hades assault on Argos and he wants revenge on Hades, the king asks Perseus to defeat the kraken, in order to weaken Hades and give him a killing blow. Acrisius, step-father of Perseus, (Jason Flemyng) is disfigured when he throws Zeus's son and Danae into the ocean and is now called Calibos, Hades gives him a new power and tells him Perseus lives. Calibos is set loose to find and kill Perseus, he confronts him and kills almost half his soldiers in the melee. They're also two Arabs in the mix who have no back story and are just funny hunters.

The Good:
The CGI for the kraken is amazing, the gods are shiny and glowy also, some of the scorpions' scenes were good, and the Djinn concept was ok. I did like the quick cameo of bubo the owl made by Hephaestus. The battle for medusas head was fast paced and just what clash of the titans should have been like from beginning to end. Lo the ageless kept getting prettier and prettier as the movie went on, every scene she just kept getting hotter!

The Bad:
The film had no plot continuity - it skipped around, all of sudden he got a sword and then a Pegasus, he teamed up with the djinn, jumped to the sisters. Between the boat and medusa was pretty smooth, but after medusa, all of a sudden the horse arrives to whisk him away. The two hunters are just in it for the hell of it, they are in the movie for comic relief and then soon after that they go out, blank.

The Ugly:
Calibos was ugly in the first movie but, holy crap, f-ugly in this new one.

Vs. The Old:
I like the fact he had to fight to ride and tame the horse. His weapons had a little back story of who made it for him and what abilities they had, Calibos played a major roll which I'm not too sure about but he at least made the journey for the hero more difficult. Perseus also accepted his role as a demi-god and wanted to do right.

In this new one he was given a horse and the sword in the middle of a field, which was kind of empty to me, all what was said is it's a gift to the gods. Calibos played a minor roll as a henchman which should have been his place in the first movie but he needed to be more of a nuisance not dying on some cheesy fight scene after "one-shotting" the ageless one name LO (Gemma Arterton). He was his former step father there should have been more rivalry and hate, he felt like just a little monster that kept getting away. The sub plot was very good Hades revenge on Zeus for making him lord of the underworld was quite fitting. Perseus was hell-bent on being just a man which didn't really make sense to me, I understand he had some hatred for the gods but, come on.

The End:
I genuinely appreciate the fact that they kept a lot of the characteristics from the original film of Clash of the Titans. However I wish they would have kept more of a story line even if it doesn't match the original movie. The main scenes were kept true to the original with some additions of Hades. Clash of the Titans has A-list of action film veterans, so why was I left with such disappointment? I give this a TOV 2.5 out of 5, Bubo the owl was in it and Lo at the end was just godly.
