• SpongeBob Squarepants "Ghouls Fools" DVD Review

Hey gang, Valkor here with another animation nugget, this time it's not from Warner Home but Paramount Home. I’m not sure if I should love those guys or hate em, but they’ve got me seriously hooked on SpongeBob. I can recall a time when I thought I’d never watch a SpongeBob cartoon and now I can’t go a day without tuning in or popping in one of the many DVDs that have gathered in the cave. So I guess I should say I love those guys, because I have yet to be disappointed in the Sponge and his wacky antics, with this round being no exception. Get ready for some undersea chills, thrills, and loads of laughs with SpongeBob Squarepants “Ghouls Fools”. And of all the DVDs I’ve sat through, I have to admit… this was the funniest.

Ghouls Fools DVD

Ghouls Fools is a Halloween themed disc with seven chillingly funny episodes from the series on a single disc DVD, each featuring the Flying Dutchman scaring up the place in some form or another. Along for the ride are some of SpongeBob’s friends Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krab, and Sandy the squirrel. But no Plankton… weird. Highlights include:

Ghouls Fools DVD

Ghouls Fools – SpongeBob and friends get caught in the middle of a dispute between the Flying Dutchmen and his crew who stole his treasure centuries ago.

You’re Shoes Untied – When Patrick gets a new pair of sneakers, he asks SpongeBob to teach him how to tie his shoes. But SpongeBob forgot how to tie his own and looks for assistance in remembering. The Flying Dutchman appears to show him how to tie a knot, but not exactly how to tie his shoes.

The Curse of Bikini Bottom – SpongeBob and Patrick accidently on purpose cut off the Flying Dutchman’s beard, just before his big date. As revenge he turns them both into ghost. Things don’t go exactly as expected for either party.

Ghost Host – The Flying Dutchman fears he’s lost his scary touch. So he enlists the help of SpongeBob to help him get his scary groove back.

Thar be nary an extra ta be found on this cursed disc, save for a few trailers at the start. So let’s sail away ya scurvy seadogs, inta the TOV Breakdown!

The Good:

I’ve always had my share of laughs when it comes to an SB DVD, but I don’t know why, but with this disc I found myself holding my sides. Maybe it’s the brevity of the episodes as they’re a direct punch straight to the funny bone or I’ve completely fallen for that livin in a pineapple under the sea sponge. Either way, Ghouls Fools is simple yet hilarious Halloween fun.
