Hey folks, Valkor here. The folks at Konami held an off the floor press conference at this year’s E3. Though towards the end the games were pretty much seen it, not excited about it. They did make one MAJOR announcement. And for those that missed it, well… it will bring tears to your eyes.
First up is Metal Gear Arcade. This takes what’s popular about Metal gear Online and brings it to the arcade world. Plus it will have an online connection so you’ll be able to battle it out with other players. Also it will make use of goggles so you can play in 3D. It will be released first in Japan, in the U.S. later this year with the U.S. to follow. Me thinks TOV will make a journey to Japan.
Not of the arcade, but damn cool!
In 2010 fans of the Metal Gear series will not only have the arcade game to look forward to, they’ll also have Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The game takes place ten years after the events of MGS 3, but before the events of MGS 4. So we find out everything that happened between those two games. Peace Walker stars Naked Snake, but it looks as though you get to control 3 other “Snakes”. Plus those of you who are fans of hiding in boxes, you can now hide 2 persons under one box. This game looks exciting and I can’t wait to see more. Again, look for Peace Walker around 2010.
One more bit of Metal Gear news and this goes out to you Raiden fans. You know him from Metal Gear Solid 2, you loved him even more in Metal Gear Solid 4. Now you get to play as Raiden in Metal Gear Solid: Rising. Not much is known about the game other than who’s starring in it, so we hope to get more details soon.
Ok now I kinda missed this one because I never frequent the Konami website. But it would seem there was an image there that no one knew anything about, which was a mask of sorts. Well Kojima started off with the image of the mask and moved into a full blown trailer of a game that had a look of God of War. But at the end, I wept with happiness when the words: “Castlevania: Lord of the Shadows” appeared on the screen. Holy shit! Kojima and co are revamping the Castlevania series and it looks to be the shit! Gameplay and graphics look solid, plus I’m feelin those cuts scenes. When can I see more? I hope soon!
The event ended with a look at Dance Dance Revolution, Karaoke Revolution, and other games that just seemed less important (but not unimportant) to the previous games announced. The one announcement of equal importance is was Tobin Bell announcing the Saw game. It was great seeing this guy in the flesh; he’s just as creepy as he is when he plays Jigsaw. But that’s not a bad thing. Overall, for my first press conference, this one made my E3 afternoon. ESPECIALLY with a new Castlevania, done by Kojima, looming in the distant future.
