Hey gang, Valkor here. When I first heard from a friend about The Rising of the Shield Hero, I was hooked almost instantly on the show long before I watched an episode! And then I started watching the anime and was so captivated by the series that I wanted anything and everything related. Thanks to the folks at Cospaa, I scored a really sweet Shield Hero bag. But we’re not here to talk about that. The folks from the Good Smile Company are back in the TOV Val-Cave with very related Nendoroid 1113–Shield Hero (Naofumi)! And if you’re as big of a fan of the anime/manga as I am, then you’ll want this in your collection!

Taken from the company's website:
From the anime series "The Rising of the Shield Hero" comes a Nendoroid of Shield Hero! He comes with three face plates including his sulking standard expression, his ghastly combat expression and his crying expression. Optional parts include his Small Shield, the Chimera Viper Shield, the Shield of Rage II and the Air Strike Shield. An Orange Balloon, fond of gnawing on the Shield Hero, is included as well! Be sure to add the Shield Hero who lost everything to your collection!

And I thought the Yuri Nendoroid had a lot going for it in terms of additional parts; But then I open up the Shield Hero box and it just seems there are more small parts to deal with. Or maybe it’s just me. Moving on, inside the box, you get four shields (Small shield, Chimera Viper, Shield of Rage II, and Air Strike), an orange balloon monster, three face plates, a stand, and additional arms and legs. So, there's plenty inside one little box, but that’s more than enough to set up your Shield Hero in a pose of your liking. For this review, I stuck with the small shield, mainly because it’s the most recognizable and my favorite, plus the orange balloon monster because they’re always fun. But I also have one pose with the glow-in-the-dark air strike shield, which looks amazing. Not mine as a buddy helped set that one up.

Piecing the figure into a pose that I would approve was way more work than I had thought; The Naofumi figure looks amazing and has great articulation to where even his cape is articulated. However, working with so many small pieces and these clumsy hands isn’t always a good thing. And yet, it won’t be the last time I must piece together one of these figures as I have many more more to showcase in the coming months. In the end, I found something that works. And with the help of a friend, I was able to score another pose that’s most fitting.

Nendoroid 1113–Shield Hero (Naofumi) is available now. And all you need to do to get your hands on one is to give that link on the right a click. Or you can find the figure at an assortment of hobby or online retailers. Either way, if you’re as big a fan as myself of The Rising of the Shield Hero, then you’ll definitely want to add this figure to your collection. So, out of TOV 5 stars, I love me so some Naofumi, so I’m giving Nendoroid 1113 a perfect 5!
