• Nendoroid 1136 Raphtalia Review

Hey gang, Valkor here. Last year, I did a Nendoroid review of Naofumi from “The Rising of the Shield Hero”, which still ranks as one of my favorite anime series of 2019. I loved the figure, especially the additional shields that came with it. And now, I’ve gotten the chance to review The Good Smile Company's Nendoroid of Naofumi’s partner in crime. Check it out, it’s Nendoroid 1136–Demi-human Raphtalia!

Taken from the company's website:

From the anime series "The Rising of the Shield Hero" comes a Nendoroid of the demi-human heroine, Raphtalia! She comes with three face plates including her gentle standard expression, her combat expression and her pouting expression from when she's angered at being treated like a child. She comes with her magic sword as well as an Illusion Sword recreated with translucent parts. The sandwich she made with leftovers and a kids' lunch complete with flag on top are included as well. Be sure to add the Shield Hero's sword, Raphtalia, to your collection!

Just as with the Naofumi, Nendoroid Raphtalia comes with a wide assortment of parts and accessories; Inside the box, you get three face plates, additional arms and legs for a variety of poses, four swords, and a plate of food, among other pieces. I would have liked an extra face to go along with the food, with her smiling while her mouth is full. Mainly because Raphtalia loves to eat and trying delicious foods, especially at the beginning of the series when she was just a slave and thought she couldn’t really enjoy such things. Thankfully, Raphtalia doesn’t come with too many small parts as with Naofumi, but it’s enough that I made quite the mess. So, I stuck with a simple pose as I still haven’t gotten the hang of posing yet. My biggest fear is that with my clumsy hands, I feel I might break the figure. But I have more figures to come, so I think I’ll eventually get the hang of it.

Getting Nendoroid Raphtalia into a pose I liked wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I think I fumbled more with Naofumi because I wanted to get in all the recognizable pieces. However, for Raphtalia, I kept it simple, plus I could actually get her to stand on the standing plate as opposed to the other figures where they appeared to float a bit. Last, I love the figure’s attention to detail; everything from Raphtalia’s hair, outfit, and expressions are captured perfectly in Nendoroid form!

Nendoroid 1136 Raphtalia

Nendoroid 1136 Raphtalia from The Rising of the Shield Hero is available now; and if you already own Naofumi, then you’ll want this figure to go alongside him. Personally, I think it’s an adorable piece and a worthy addition to any Nendoroid collection. Interested?
