• Happiness is... Peanuts: Snow Days DVD Review

Hey folks, Valkor here. Getting snowed is never an easy event to deal with – if you have kids, they're home from school and if you're single then you have to deal with shoveling snow (not me, I pay the kids who are home from school to do it. Heh). But when darkness falls and there isn't too much to do, because you're pretty much stuck indoors, then you need entertainment. If the folks at Warner Home have anything to say about it, they'd want you to whip up some hot chocolate, pop that popcorn, and toss in "Happiness is… Peanuts: Snow Days" DVD. Or you know what? Better toss in a few extra DVDs to go along with this one or else you'll be in for a short trip.

Happiness is... Peanuts: Snow Days DVD

Snow days reintroduces us to the Peanuts Gang, in particular: Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Peppermint Patty, Marcy, Snoopy, and even Woodstock just to name a few. In this DVD set you'll get two episodes (I'm not kidding) totaling 47 minutes of good, wholesome fun. Highlights include:

Happiness is... Peanuts: Snow Days DVD

The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show – taken from the TV series, we get three tales related to the theme of the DVD. First is "The Play"; Charlie Brown recollects events leading up the school Christmas play, where things didn't go right and he was blamed for all the screw ups. Next is "Sweet baboo" and anyone who knows there Peanuts knows that "sweet baboo" is Sally's pet name for Linus. Well it's Valentine's Day and all Sally wants is something from her "sweet baboo". But will she or Charlie Brown get anything (He's got the little red-haired girl on the brain as always)? We also get a grumpy Marcy, so Chuck better beware. Finally there's "Snoopy's Story". Peppermint Patty writes an essay that rules the school and it's all about the feats of Snoopy. But things don't go over so well when she has to read the essay in front of the school.

She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown – Peppermint Patty is practicing for a figure skating competition with Snoopy as her coach and she's not having the best of times dealing with the situation. First she sleeps in class, Marcy mangles her dress, and she hasn't been able to skate well enough to impress her coach. To make matters worse, when it's her turn to skate during the finals, her music gets all screwed up! However there's a solution to every problem and thankfully Patty comes out on top!

The only extras on the disc are a few trailers. And that's pretty much it. So without further ado, let's head straight into the TOV Breakdown.

Happiness is... Peanuts: Snow Days DVD

The Good:

It's a Peanut's cartoon! I can't think of one episode or short that I was ever bored with; not even with all the bad luck Charlie Brown has. Thankfully not much happens to him here and overall this is a fun DVD. Oh and you'll be floored as you watch "She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown" because the adults actually SPEAK – WORDS!!! I've never seen that in a Charlie Brown short EVER!!

The Bad:

This set could have been padded with a few additional episodes. I mean only two episodes on the entire DVD? If you're fan, this will hold your interest. Others might wait for a meatier set.

The Creepy:

Watching old Chuck stalk the little red-haired girl.

Gripes aside, I am a Peanuts fan and "Happiness is… Peanuts: Snow Days" is still a fun DVD that not only fans of the gang can appreciate but newcomers will enjoy their antics as well. The DVD is currently available and right now the cost over at Amazon is 9.99. Not bad if you're interested. And out of TOV 5 stars, I give this set a 3.
