• YESOJO Nintendo Switch Wireless Controller Review

Hey gang, Valkor here. If you've ventured around TOV, especially during the past few years, you will find plenty of anime-related goodies strewn about; Attack on Titan and Evangelion are two of my favorites, so you'll find plenty of reviews based around them. However, it's the latter that gets the most shine around TOV. Each time I visit Japan, I generally come across something interesting and entertaining that has to do with Evangelion that I can share with all of you. On one of my most recent trips, I spotted a Nintendo Switch controller from a company called YESOJO. I've never heard of them. But based on of the designs of their controllers, I knew I had to have it! Is it worth hunting down? If you're a fan of all things Evangelion then it's a yes from me, dawg! Check it out! It's the YESOJO Nintendo Switch Wireless controller.

On the box, it does not say that the controller is in conjunction with Neon Genesis Evangelion. But you can see where the inspiration came from based on the the box art and the color of the controller as it does sport the colors of the Eva Unit-1. And even the box itself looks Evangelion-related. The YESOJO pad looks similar in size to the Nintendo Pro controller, along with a similar button layout. The only difference is the Home button in the center and a Turbo button. I haven't used the Turbo button yet. However, according to the manual, the button increases the shots that are fired. Next, the YESOJO includes a lengthy USB-C charging cable, which you can plug directly into the Nintendo Switch dock. Finally, the YESOJO controller has no-slip handles, making it easier to get a handle on the pad in the heat of the moment.

I had to do a bit of online hunting for YESOJO; The company's official website isn't available. But I did find a wide selection of their controllers on other sites and at very reasonable prices. Some of the color schemes are just OK. However, some controllers are gorgeous! Case in point, this inspired Eva Unit-1 design is something I couldn't pass up! And I couldn't find this particular color online. Not to say it doesn't exist anywhere else, but you'll have to do a little digging if you're interested in owning one. The YESOJO controller looks good. But how does it fare in the Val-Cave? Let's find out in the TOV Breakdown!

The Bang:

I've already expressed how good the YESOJO controller looks. But let me say again – this controller is gorgeous! I love the inspired Eva Unit-1 color scheme, which instantly caught my eye! And as soon as I saw it, good or bad, I had to have it! The controller feels nice and sits well in my hands. And YESOJO gets plus points for the no-slip grips, which makes holding the pad during serious gaming easier to handle. But Val, how does it handle? The YESOJO controller handles quite well! Much better than I expected! In the images I provide, I'm playing Bloodstained, but I also tried out the controller with Super Mario RPG Remake, Fight'N Rage, and Streets of Rage 4. Although the YESOJO controller doesn't feel as good as the Pro controller, I had no issues using the pad to execute moves in beat 'em ups. And it held up well enough in Bloodstained. Trust me, it's a better alternative than the joycons. YESOJO has plenty of fun designs, so it's just a matter of finding the one you like. But finding this Unit-1 design might be a chore. You'll do well to add this one to your collection, though, if you plan to look for it and/or if you're an Evangelion fan.

The Slack:

The YESOJO isn't a perfect controller. Nonetheless, I love it to the point that I don't have anything negative to say about it. Can I nitpick? Probably! But I'm not going to, since it works for what I need it for! I'd say if you're more hardcore, then this is a controller you might want to try before you buy.

It's disappointing that there isn't an official site (yet) for YESOJO. But if you're looking to own a YESOJO controller, without visiting Japan, then there are plenty of websites for you to pick from. And it's worthwhile since the YESOJO controller performs and looks great, especially in this Eva Unit-1 color scheme. I highly recommend snagging it as soon as you come across one! And out of TOV 5 stars, I'm giving the YESOJO Wireless Nintendo Switch Controller a solid 4.5!
