Hey gang, Valkor here. Marvel's The Avengers is killing at the box office – and it's well deserved because the movie is awesome. It's too bad we have to wait a couple of years while the next solo films make their rounds, until we get to see part two. But if we end up with a sequel just as good as the first, then I'm all for it. To keep that Avenger flow going, the gang over at Case-Mate is making their first round in the Val-Cave with some much related items. Check it out it's Case-Mate The Avengers Movie Series Collection smartphone cases.
Not only do these guys defend the earth, they'll even go so far as to defend your favorite smartphone as well. Choose your favorites – Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, or an ensemble piece which features all four of Earth's Mightiest. The case itself is set in two pieces; first you have the soft rubber lining, which then pops right into the hard shell casing ensuring all buttons and ports are readily open and available. The case also comes with 4 screen protectors, a soft cloth for wiping smudges, and an applicator card for ironing out the bubbles when you apply the screen protector.
But it's the case itself that's the real treasure. And the folks at Case-Mate sent over two of my favorites from the film – Hulk and Thor. The artwork has a nice painted look, with the characters matching their movie counterparts. I thought they were from the official poster, but these look to be new pieces made for this series (don't quote me on that).
Finally, these are custom designs not limited to just one phone – choose from the iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4/4S (4S was used for this review), iPod Touch 4G, BlackBerry Curve 8520, BlackBerry Bold 9700/9900, and the Samsung Galaxy S. So after traipsing about town and whipping out my phone whenever possible, does Case-Mate Avengers series please not just mine eyes, but those of passerbys.
The answer is a firm: Yes! Did I mention that the Avenger cases are beautiful to look at? Very nicely detailed, especially The Hulk's green, which is bold enough to catch someone's eye yet isn't too strong of a green that it becomes annoying – definitely an eye pleaser. While the Hulk is set in the dark, Thor takes on the light. He has a similar scowl as the Hulk with a nice lightning motif at the bottom. Yea I caught a few double takes and there were some who were curious enough to ask where I got it. Overall, I have to say great job on the look! The cases are considered to have a "Barely There" slim case design, which proves true; the case doesn't add all that much weight or girth to the phone, so you can slip it in and out of your pockets, pouches, purses, or briefcases with ease.
I find that the case becomes a bit slippery when your hands get a little sweaty. I'm not talkin a "wet bar of soap, fly out your hands" slippery, but the kind that may cause you to stumble a bit, depending on what you're doing. In my case, I found this to be true when I'm gaming.
The "I Really Suck At This":
Trying to put on that screen cover; I mean it doesn't look all that hard to pull off. And yet I ended up wasting two of em because I couldn't put them on properly. Ugh!
Case-Mate The Avengers Movie Collection is available now and definitely worth the 40 dollar price tag. If you're a fan of the film and/or you simply want something that's totally unique and fun covering you're phone, then these cases are a "must have". And out of TOV 5 stars, I'm giving The Avengers Movie Collection cases a 4.5. And they have been Valkor tested, TOV Approved!
