• Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth x Asahi Event

Hey gang, Valkor here. Ever since the release of the original Final Fantasy VII on the Sony PlayStation in 1997, I have heavily campaigned for a Final Fantasy VII remake (Thanks to the release of Advent Children). I knew back then that it would eventually happen - it was only a matter of when. In addition to the first two games in a three-part Remake trilogy, we also received a remaster of Crisis Core and several other Remake-related products. And I'm willing to try my hardest to make it happen if any relevant events are happening practically anyplace in the world! And this brings us to Roppongi Hills, Japan, where I got the chance to attend an event sponsored by the folks at Asahi; They're not only introducing a trio of new beverages. They're also putting a Final Fantasy VII spin on it as well. And it’s probably one of the coolest events you'll witness through the eyes of Val.

First, Tifa's bar, also known as Seventh Heaven, is recreated in the Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth x Asahi crossover event, which is dubbed Lemon's Heaven. The outside of the bar looks amazing and is a proper representation of the in-game venue. The inside isn't as detailed, but given that it has to hold a set amount of people at one time, I can forgive it. However, the venue does come complete with the pinball machine (And if you know the game, you know where that leads). Although there isn't a secret underground room, it's nonetheless a pleasing sight. Additionally, there is a TV screen that displays scenes from Rebirth. I think a few more screens would have been a nice addition. Again, no complaints.

But this event isn't all about Final Fantasy VII. No! I also made the journey to check out Asahi's latest entry in the chu-hi, lemon sour field called Mirai no Lemon Sour. Their latest concoctions introduce actual lemon slices that float to the top when the can is opened. The flavors range from original, plain, and a new Koime strong variant (Val's newest favorite). This new variant contains an alcohol content of 7%, with a stronger, sweeter lemon taste. Unfortunately, it's only a limited release. However, I hope I get the chance to try it again before it's taken off the shelves.

Unfortunately, the FFVII: Rebirth x Asahi event was only for a few days (April 28 to May 3). And while you might not be able to check out Lemon's Heaven in all of its glory, you can still try you some Mirai no Lemon Sour where available (and if you're in Japan). In the end, I was happy to make the trek and more than pleased with the experience. And now that I'm finished with Rebirth, bring on the final entry in the FFVII Remake trilogy!
