• Friday the 13th Killer Cut DVD Review

So, our friend C. Viper, Valkor and yours truly Epic-1 were hanging out at the Just Us League round table, talking about how much Valkor likes eating Chinese (if you know what I mean), when Valkor remembers he has a new movie for me to review and pulls it out (if you know what I mean). Friday The 13th is the remake of a classic, and in my opinion it came up a little short (if you know what I mean). Almost everyone knows the story of Jason (Derek Mears) and how his mother was actually the killer in part one of the classic and who he was. But we never knew how he got his mask or how he would pop up all the time (if you know what I mean). Well this movie shows you how he received his mask and it also shows his lair which in my opinion was the best part of the movie; it really got my blood pumping (if you know what I mean). It also shows that Jason, using this underground mine that went under the entire camp, can just pop up anywhere. Now the movie was pretty much predictable and definitely didn’t make it scary for me but it did bring a lot of action and suspense and had me cheering for Jason to kill these fucking stupid people. Jason makes you happy by chopping heads (so I guess you can say he got some head if you know what I mean), and sticking them with his machete (if you know what I mean), and in one special case even sticking it in their back (if you know what I mean). My favorite killing though had to be Trent (Travis Van Winkle) who runs away, gets to a road, sees a truck, someone inside waves him down and he doesn’t take the chance because he thinks its Jason, gets killed and hung on the back of the truck while the truck drives away.

The Good

The good was definitely the lair; it was great just looking around and seeing how sick Jason really was but also knowing he was really smart. The other thing I liked was the original way he got his mask, which you’ll see in the special features area with “The Rebirth of Jason Voorhees” and the “Slashed Scenes”.

The Bad

The bad is the fact that I was cheering for Jason. Guys this is a horror movie; we should want the victims to survive and cheer when they give it to the bad guy (if you know what I mean).

The Ugly

The ugly goes for the special features really that was all you could come up with. You left me hanging and blue balled (if you know what I mean).

So in conclusion I’m going to do a first in TOV history; Friday the 13th (Killer Cut) gets 2.5 out of 5 stars for horror but gets 5 out of 5 stars for action/ suspense and the fact that a lot of thought was put into the making of this film; it really kept me wanting more but that’s because I wanted to see Jason kill more. Killer Cut has been Epic-1 tested and TOV approved!!!!
