Hey folks, Valkor here. A few weeks back I reviewed “Tom and Jerry: The Chuck Jones Collection”, while I wasn’t fond of it, it still holds a place in my heart for classic cartoonage. But then what should fall onto my laps? Tom and Jerry’s Greatest Chases Volume 2. Now THIS is what I’m talkin about! Cat and mouse, bustin it out, no holds barred? Yes! This is what I’m talkin about.
I missed out on the first volume; but after watching the second? Yea I gotta seek that bad boy out! This volume features 14 episodes of the cat and mouse, friends who love to hate each other, as they go out each other’s throat because nature says they gotta. Let’s check out a few:
Sufferin’ Cats – Tom competes with another cat for his favorite plaything/meal. Only Jerry’s playin em both.
Baby Puss – Tom is stuck playin house with the little lady of the house. Not only does Jerry give him the business, but invites some of Tom’s “buddies” in on the fun.
Million Dollar Cat – Tom inherits a million dollars, with one stipulation: He can’t harm a single soul. Not even a mouse. You know what that means? Jerry is gonna get his fill!
The Bodyguard – Jerry befriends Spike the bulldog, and in doing so he gives Jerry a whistle. Anytime he’s in trouble, all he needs do is blow it. And you know who’s trouble for Jerry, right?
Jerry’s Cousin – After sufferin much abuse by the hand of Tom, Jerry calls in his look-a-like cousin to straighten things out. (A personal fav).
THIS IS THE SET YOU MUST OWN!! I know Chuck Jones is genius in his own right, but his set had me noddin off on many occasion. With this set, I was on the floor non-stop laughing. That’s all that needs to be said. This is Tom and Jerry at their finest.
Only that there are only 14 eps, but frankly you won’t even notice or care since you’ll be too busy – holding your sides!
The amount of abuse these two can take. YOW!
Overall I gotta say Tom and Jerry’s Greatest Collection Volume two is definitely the choice to make when choosing classic cartoons. They really don’t hold anything back, literally kickin the bajeebies out of each other, but in the end they will fall back on each other when they really need to. Out of TOV 5 stars, this is a definite 4.5, and definitely TOV approved!!
