• Xtorm XB2 Explore Power Bank Review

Hey gang, Valkor here. And welcome back to another episode of TechView. If you’re a heavy mobile and you don’t have a portable battery pack on hand, then what are you doing with yourself? There are so many options out on the market, with many that we’ve covered here on the site, so there's really no reason not to have one. Today, we’re checking out the latest from Xtorm as a part of the XB2 lineup – Explore; it’s definitely one of the best power banks to hit the shelves and the Val-Cave. And it’ll certainly be one you’ll want to own.

Xtorm XB2 Explore

On the outset, the XB2 Explore looks like most power banks out on the market; it sports a rectangular design, with a rubbery finish on the front and back. On the front, you’ll find your power button, which also doubles as your indicator light letting you know when it’s charging or how much juice you have left. Next, at the top, you have three ports – one USB, one microUSB (for charging the pack), and an additional USB port, but this one allows you to utilize Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging. Finally, on the right side, you have an additional microUSB cable that's magnetically held in place. So if your device uses that sort of cable, then you’ll never be without so long as you have the pack with you. The Explore also comes with a microUSB cable (in addition to the one attached), and a USB-C cable, which will work with most laptops that has a port or most current mobile devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S8+. Finally, the XB2 Explore sports a 10,000-mAh battery, which will allow you to charge up to two devices at once. But if you’re only charging one device, then you’ll have more than enough to get you through the day.

My current smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy S8+, which has an incredible battery life. I mean I can go from sunup to sundown with just enough power to spare. So draining the device just to test out the pack took a lot of work just to drain it. But I made it happen. And what I discovered about Xtorm’s XB2 Explore is that it’s one pack I want to have handy.

The Bang:

Once my S8+ was drained, I made use of the Quick Charge 3.0 port to bring my device up to snuff. And after about an hour, I went from 23% to 84%. And that’s more than enough charge to get me going as it takes time for the smartphone to run low. So kudos to Xtorm’s Explore for being capable in keeping my device well charged when it’s needed most. I also give it plus points for having the additional cable, which came in handy in keeping my Smile Jamaica Bluetooth headphones charged along with my smartphone, since I don’t also bring the microUSB cable with me. And since I almost always forget the main cable, the removable cable helps to keep the pack itself charged when it needs juice. So there are all sorts of reasons why the removable cable is necessary. And I’m glad that Xtorm saw fit to include it with the pack. In the end, if you’re looking for the perfect travel companion to go along with your smartphone or mobile device, then look no further than Xtorm’s XB2 Explore. It does a fine job in keeping you powered up and the added removable cable means you’ll never alone when out you’re out and about.
