Hey gang, Valkor here. So last week I got the opportunity to attend the Bluetooth NYC Media & Demo Event in NYC held at the Roosevelt Hotel, which is usually an event held during CES. The event showcases some of the latest gadgets using Bluetooth technology (of course) and while I would have liked to have seen some audio devices on deck (speakers and headphones), what the show had to offer – for the most part – was enough to pique my interest. Check it out.
BedJet – Falling asleep isn’t just about being tired – it’s also about being in the perfect comfort zone. It either has to be the right amount of warmth or cool that makes falling fast asleep and waking up the following day most pleasant. Enter BedJet, a hefty device that sits under your bed that produces a desirable level of heat or cool to your liking that’ll help you get the best sleep possible. It works with any comforter but there is a specific comforter you can purchase from the company that attaches directly to the unit. Once set up, you can use an app on your mobile device or the remote to set up the desired heat/cool levels. And for larger beds you can have a dual setup so that each person can have their specific level of heat/cool. The idea sounds great, but be prepared to pay a pretty premium if you’re interested.
TLINK – While it won’t help improve your stroke, TLINK will hook up with your smartphone and accurately measure your distance between you and your next hole. Plus it’ll count calories, act as a pedometer and tell you how far you’ve walked. Speaking with the rep, it’s the app TLINK uses is open for future features such as keeping score (yours as well as your partners), counting your strokes or even update you on the weather; imagine if you can check your app to see if on the day you wanna get out on the green, if it’s totally worth it. Finally, TLINK can either be worn on your wrist or clipped to your belt. Chalk this one up as a great gift idea for the golfer in your life.
iDevices – With winter upon us here on the east coast, it’s time to tune up those thermostats in preparation for the chilly weather that’s forthcoming. But whether you’re at home or away, with iDevices and your smartphone, you’re never too far from comfort. Replacing your standard thermostat with that of an iDevice and you’ll have total control of your indoor temps no matter where you are. So no more coming home to a chilly welcome where you have to wait for the temps to go up in order to get comfortable. We’ve got one of these bad boys in the Val-Cave that’s almost ready to go. So expect a full review in a couple of weeks.
Perfect Drink – We’ve covered the Perfect Bake at a previous event and it was on hand for demoing. But right next door was a rep serving up mimosas that she was creating using the Perfect Drink. With the device and tablet, you can make the perfect cocktail each and every time by perfectly measuring the right amount of ingredients, adding ice or even garnish. And if you should happen to over pour or not add enough of something, the app will readjust itself so no matter what you’ll nail your favorite drink. Perfect Drink is available now and if you’re someone like me who is clumsy when making a drink or looking for the “perfect gift” for that special someone, then you’ll definitely want to get in on this action.
The Bluetooth Media event in NYC was short, but it was definitely worth the trek. And I’m looking forward to seeing more at next year’s event in Vegas. Stay tuned to the pages of TOV as we’ll have more from the aforementioned companies as well as future Bluetooth events as it’ll be most exciting, informative and fun.
