Hey gang, Valkor here. We’re just a couple of months away before the big show in Las Vegas – I’m talking about CES 2017. The last couple of shows I skipped out in favor of Japan. However, this round Japan can wait, because I truly miss having the chance to check out all the newest technologies that's either soon to be released, or coming in the near future. But before the big show, us media in NYC got the chance to sample what’s to come with “CES Unveiled 2016”. And while there was plenty to see, I kept things to a minimal. However, it was still loads of fun.

GoPlug – We’ve tested many battery packs here at TOV, but I’ve never seen anything of the likes of what GoPlug has to offer. Simply put, this is "one pack to rule them all" as it’s capable of charging your laptop, tablet, and phone all at once. And for all of you business travelers and commuters, the company also makes bags that are fitted with the pack in mind. The second pic below shows a roller where the GoPlug sits right at the top, leaving much room at the bottom for other items. It all looks impressive and I can’t wait to see more of what the product has to offer.

HandL – The most common causes of smartphone cracked screens are mainly due to drops; usually, it's from people who try to use their phone while walking, not paying attention, a sudden bump or a trip, and boom, your phone is on the ground, face down, and it’s all screwed up. Enter HandL, which introduces a “gripless” option to how we handle our devices. So now you can walk, work, or do a number of tasks without worrying about droppage. I’ve been given a HandL and have spent a lot of time with the case. So you can expect a review pretty soon.

MSI – What I initially thought was a very cool looking, hard case backpack, when I stepped over to the MSI table, it turns out it’s an awesome gaming PC that’s VR-ready and aptly named – VR One! The VR One is made the way it is as to allow you to be more mobile when you’re VR gaming. Plus it comes packed with some pretty strong specs under its hood. But I still wouldn’t mind sporting that case as a standalone backpack tho…

Spartan – There once was a time that mobile phones were small enough that most guys, especially me, kept them in our top breast pocket. But then phablet phones entered our world and we had to change real estate from putting our phones from our top pocket to the pants pocket. And because of radiations and other dangerous waves that smartphones emit, well there’s a chance we can contract a serious disease down below. Enter Spartan, which touts to blocking out the majority of those bad waves, giving our privates that added protection we need. We’re looking to get a pair to not only test out its protection capabilities but also comfort and durability.

Alienware – CES Unveiled has opened up many opportunities for TOV; mainly it gave me the chance to meet with companies who I’ve always wanted to have a chat with. Enter Alienware, makers of awesome gaming computers. And while they had a few laptops on hand, there were two that stood out and both VR-read – the Alienware 13 and 17. The 13 is probably the smallest 13” notebook that’s VR capable, while the 17 goes for the thinnest. The 17 also has loads of features, one, in particular, is “Tobii Eye-Tracking”, which will help you up your gaming skillz.
