• ThinkGeek Grab-It Pack Gadget Holster Review

Hey folks, Valkor here. The gang over at ThinkGeek are going for a trifecta here at TOV; their first two outings – the Bag of Holding and the Ghostbusters Backpack fared quite well in TOV testing and are definitely items we highly recommend. This time around I'll be playing it close to the chest… er hip with the ThinkGeek Gadget Grab-it Pack Gadget Holster. Let's saddle up cowboys, this should be fun.

The Hip Holster is what it is – a holster that straps to your thigh in two places, which is at the hip and the lower thigh and can rest on either side. The holster contains three pouches; one big and two small, each with their own function for whatever you need them for. The top pouch uses a zipper, while the larger pouch uses Velcro and a buckle, and finally the side small side pouch only uses Velcro to lock it up. Though it's called a "gadget holster", I find it has uses beyond simply holding tech (obviously). For instance at work I can use the holster to store receipts, my phone, my phone charger, my Clear Wireless dongle and some gum for when I wanna "freshen up". When I'm at press events my business cards, cellphone, pens, and other small items are within my grasp with the quickness. The style when wearing the holster definitely gives you that Han Solo look and could be used in your arguments of "who shot first"? (See what you started George!?)

To close out on the Grab-It holster, it's ergonomically designed for comfort and your pants won't bunch up while walking or even going into a trot, it's water-resistant, and pretty sturdy yet comfortable. Walking around, wearing this thing in public garnered stares in my lower region – and I'm not quite used to people looking in that direction unless they plan on…

Wait… where was I going with that? Nevermind, let's move on and take a look at how the Grab-It Holster fared in the TOV Breakdown.

The Bang:

As big of a fan I am of messenger bags, I'm just as big a fan of hip pouches. And whenever I find an interesting one, I'll snag it right up. They're quite useful as pocket replacements and I'll normally sport them so often that they end ultimately wear out. ThinkGeek's Grab-it Holster promises durability... a promise you can feel, because it does feel as though it can go the duration. The Grab-It is definitely the most unique hip pouch I've owned and the most versatile. Those three pouches (each of a different size) serve a purpose and hold just enough important items, keeping them within reach; no more having to sift through my pockets or bag to look for my keys, cards, or even coins. And I'll admit… it looks rather fetching on me.

The Slack:

If you're a big guy, chances are you won't be able to rock the Grab-It, since it goes up to a size 43" waist. Mind you I'm a 34 and I had tough time adjusting the strap. Yes the straps aren't as easy to size up as they may appear. I mean it's not a strenuous work out, but still requires more work than need be. Also in one of the pics, there's a guy wearing two of these... yea don't do that. Unless your goofin off with your friends or it's part of a costume, do not seriously walk outside wearing two Grab-Its... just... don't!

So third times a winner for ThinkGeek as their Grab-It Pack Gadget Holster scores them another victory. The Grab-It Holster is available now and a must own for anyone who hates fumbling through their pockets looking for whatever – now you'll have three additional pockets to fumble through plus look ultra-geeky in the process. And in this day and age "geek" is the new cool. And for something this cool, I gotta give the ThinkGeek Grab-It Holster a 4.5 and it's been Valkor tested, TOV Approved!
