Hey gang, Valkor here. And I'm about to drop something a little different here at TOV; we've covered toys before, but never something like this. And I hope to do more in the future. Over the years, I've become something of a fan of Hatsune Miku. I mean, I've always known about the character, but it wasn't until I reviewed “Project Diva X” that I started to become a fan. So, looking beyond the games, I thought I'd review something that has recently dropped on my lap and worth being in any fan's collection. Check it out, from the Good Smile Company, it's Nendoroid 1039 Hatsune Miku: Symphony 2018-2019 Ver.
Taken from the company's website:
From "Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku" comes a Nendroid of Hatsune Miku based off of the main visual from the full orchestra concert "Hatsune Miku Symphony 2018-2019". The Nendoroid faithfully captures the neat and delicate design, originally illustrated by Rella. She comes with three face plates including a smiling expression, a winking expression and a singing expression!
What comes in the box: other than Miku's smiling face, you get two extra faces - one winking and the other singing with her eyes closed. There's also extra arms and a leg for additional poses, and finally, a melody strip, to give whatever pose you put Miku in, a charming, musical effect. I should point out that Miku's cowlick is also removable, which I learned as I was setting her up in different poses and the little piece fell off.
Design-wise, Good Smile Company has faithfully captured Hatsune Miku from her Miku Symphony, in Nendoroid perfection. Everything from the full-size version of Miku is represented from her pleated skirt, ribbons, and shoes. To get a better idea just how well of a job Good Smile has done for the character, check out the video below.
I'm not the biggest collector of Nendoroids, yet I can see the appeal in the figures as they're totally adorable. And I have to say the Miku Symphony figure stays true to that effect. First off, props to the attention to detail as I had to do a little homework and look up the actual character to see just how well Symphony Miku carried over into Nendoroid form. Even the littlest touches such as the multicolored bow around her neck or the little colored straps around her arms add to the figure's appeal. The parts separate and go back together easily enough that even the clumsiest of hands (such as mine) won't have too much of an issue putting together and posing Miku figure the way you like. The colors are outstanding and what I like most is how the hair fades from top to bottom. Overall, it's a beautiful piece, one that is not only a worthy addition in the Val-Cave but in any collection, especially if you're a fan.
You can find Nendoroid 1039 Hatsune Miku: Symphony 2018-2019 Ver. In a variety of stores and hobby shops, or you can check out the official Good Smile Company website (link over to the right) for this figure and more. I have one more Nendoroid to review, so until then, I'm giving Nendoroid 1039 Hatsune Miku: Symphony 2018-1019 Ver. A perfect 5!
