• PopSockets Review

Hey gang, Valkor here. Last year we did a small, post-CES Unveiled piece on a nifty little product that makes it easier to hold your mobile phone called “HandL”. And for what it’s worth, it's still an awesome product, but it's centered on a case. And if you’re one, such as me, who likes a little variety in your cases, then this route might not be the option for you. Enter a new product into the Val-Cave called “PopSockets”. And not a day goes by since I’ve gotten these things, that I don’t love them more and more.

While HandL adds a strap extension to a case, you’re still stuck with the case. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. But if you want to change things up a bit, then you’re gonna have to step outside the box into something new - PopSockets. PopSockets is a small, button-like piece of plastic, with a strong adhesive grip that’s attached to the back of your phone, or favorite phone case. With such a strong hold, this makes it easier to walk and talk/text/game whatever, without the fear of your device slipping from your hands, meeting either a cracked screen or wrecked smartphone. PopSockets also makes taking photos way easier, especially if you’re the owner of a phablet phone. There have been too many occasions where I feared my Nexus 6 slipping from my grip whilst I attempted to take that perfect shot.

Other notable features of PopSockets - they also make great kickstands; whether you choose to use one or two, you can set your device on the horizontal, to check out your favorite media hands-free. And you can also add a second PopSocket to keep your charging cable handy. But beyond just phone and tablet use, there are plenty of uses for PopSockets. It all comes down to what you wanna do with it. Need something to hold your keys? Hooks for a spice rack? Or A hook for an extra mirror, so you can get a quick flash on your way out? You can do that! There are just so many possibilities!

PopSockets

I had the chance to meet with a rep of PopSockets at this past Toy Fair 2017; and it while there were many unique designs shown, the most notable are the licenses or what’s to come. From the pic below, you can expect to see Pokemon PopSockets, which I think the PokeBall alone would look cool. But give me an Eevee or a Charmander any day of the week and I’m a happy Val.

The Bang:

As a tech accessory, PopSockets are simply amazing! They form a tight hold onto the case of my device, making it so that no matter what I was doing, the fear of my smartphone suddenly falling was alleviated. As an avid Pokemon Go player (yes we’re still out there), PopSockets makes playing the game that much more enjoyable as my thoughts are more about “catching them all” as opposed to “is this the moment where my phone goes crash”. Finally, PopSockets gets mad props for being more than just a phone accessory; you can use it for your tablets or any number of portable tech items and beyond. But if you’ve ever had worries about a cracked screen because of sudden slippage, then you’d be wise to invest in PopSockets.
