Hey gang, Valkor here. And of all the smartphones cases that have come my way and I’ve reviewed for this site, none has been more interesting, more visually appealing than the latest to cross my path from the folks at Rokform – the Predator for the iPhone 6/6s Plus. And while to some it may not look it, it’s all that and a whole lot more.

The Predator is an aluminum, lightweight with a four-point grip that covers and protects your smartphone at its corners, which wraps around and protrudes just enough to offer up some screen protection; it might not look like your typical case, however it does offer the same style of protection as most cases on the market, as phones are prone to being dropped at the corners or flat face. The case is held together by two stainless steel screws, which separates at the midsection and thankfully Rokform includes a special screwdriver and extra screws to make process that much easier. I applied the case in the most difficult way – by trying to slip the phone into the case without unscrewing the case first. It went in! But it took way more work than necessary. The case also hosts a magnet and comes with a second magnet that can be applied to most surfaces through an adhesive at the back. And the most likely of places you’d place the magnet would be your car. In this manner you can dock the phone for hands-free talking, following along with your GPS or a host of other applications, without having to fumble with your smartphone in your hand while driving. The magnet itself is quite powerful and applies a solid grip to the case, keeping such a tight connection with your phone that most jostles or bumps won’t dislodge your device. Finally, the back of the case features an anti-slip grip, which keeps your phone from slipping when placed on smooth surfaces.

I haven’t done too many case reviews lately, simply because most designs are pretty much the same; and unless a company is offering up something that’s unique, I’ll almost always pass (almost). With Rokform’s Predator case, the design alone drew me to it. However, as a case, does it work? Let’s find out in the TOV Breakdown.

The Bang:
Right off the bat, you’re gonna fall for the design of Rokform's Predator, which looks kind of like it has an alien like grip on your phone. It’s what drew me in and I think you guys out there will get a kick out of it as well. It’s solid yet lightweight and from a functionality standpoint, it works like most cases out on the market, offering the same level of protection from bumps, scratches and minor drops – however I will admit I wasn’t gonna get into anything to extreme with the drops as I would with a Tech21 case. However it works as promised and for that, color me impressed. How the Predator also differs than a standard case is that it allows "full access" to your smartphone’s buttons, ports and cameras with zero obstruction. And you can slip your phone in your pocket without any added bulkiness. Finally the magnet – now that’s power! The grip it applies to the case is firm, making it not so easy to pry your phone from its position. And you want that grip, especially if you're gonna use the case while driving; if you’re driving down a bumpy or off-road scenario, you don't want to lose your device to an unexpected fall when it's most needed. To the folks at Rokform, you have a clear winner on your hands with the Predator case, which not only looks good but works much better than I had expected.

The Slack:
The cost might throw some folks off and at regular retail of 120 bucks, I wouldn’t be so quick to jump on it either. However, you’re not simply dealing with a piece of plastic here. This is high-grade stuff and well worth the investment.

Even though it might not look like it, Rokform’s Predator case for the iPhone 6/6s Plus has you covered. With a cool design and overall protective properties, places The Predator high on the “must have” category, just don’t let the price scare you away. And out of TOV 5 stars, I’m giving the Predator a 5 and it’s been Valkor tested, TOV Approved!
