Hey gang, Valkor here. Just changing gears from films to take us back into e-flavor country. The gang over at Ploom has had a successful run in the Val-Cave. But now it’s time to let a new crew a shot. This round its R.J. Reynolds Vapor Company that gets a shot and they’ve brought along what they call “the first digital e-cigarette”. Check it out its Vuse Solo Digital Vapor Cigarette.

Why is it called "digital"? I’ll let the website give you the 411 on that:
VUSE is also the only e-cigarette designed with a SmartMemory chip inside the cartridge. The Vapor Delivery Processor works with the SmartMemory to monitor and adjust the power and heat delivered to the cartridge up to 2,000 times a second, ensuring consistently satisfying puffs - A Perfect Puff, First Time, Every Time

In short, depending on your pull, the chip in the e-cig will measure out a proper vape each and every time. Designwise, Vuse sorta looks like a pen; it has a metallic body, which is very lightweight with a removable mouthpiece/cartridge and at the other end is an LED tip that lights up white with each pull. When it’s low or in recharge mode the Solo LED switches to red. To give you a better size example, check out the pic below to get a comparison between the Ploom PAX and ModelTwo. The Vuse Solo kit also comes with a USB charger that allows you to plug in the main body of the Solo into any computer, with the same red/white glowing motif of when it’s charging and when it’s finished. Right now there are only two varieties available – original and menthol (the one we’re sampling). Hopefully we’ll see more of a variety because Vuse will have to compete with the likes of:

Vs. Ploom ModelTwo – Really, there is no competition as the two e-cigs are on two different levels. The ModelTwo is more like a cigar if anything. However, the ModelTwo gets a huge advantage over the amount of flavors available –and that’s a pretty heavy amount. Winner however goes to Ploom ModelTwo

Though I’m not much of a smoker, having the opportunity at testing out these new e-cigs has been fun and exciting for me. And I’m looking forward to watch the future holds for myself as well as the, as I’m able to share that experience with you guys. But for now, let’s see how Vuse Solo fares in the TOV Breakdown.

The Bang:
Vuse Solo scores a first round victory here in the Val-Cave; sure it doesn’t compare to the ModelTwo, but on its own it the perfect digital e-cig you can find. It fits well between my fingers and I love that metallic touch, plus it doesn’t heat up with use – at least I haven’t experienced that. Then there’s the taste, it’s a little too heavy for me to take it all in, but it is quite smooth with a lot of flavor. I got a nice, lightheaded kick on my first pull. I’m looking forward to more from RJ and their Vuse product, especially more flavors. Otherwise, great job!

The slack:

Though Vuse Solo is available now, click the logo on the right to find out if there’s any available in your neck of the woods - I was able to find a few places in my city that has them. Right out the box its ready to go, it’s lightweight and it taste great. So out of TOV 5 stars, Vuse gets a 4 and it’s been Valkor tested, TOV Approved!
