Hyperkin Text Link Remote Review

Just in from DDR Games, Hyperkin's PS3 Remote called the Text Link, a multi-function remote that slides open to expose a Qwerty Keyboard. The top of the remote has all the functions of a regular remote allowing you to watch DVD and Blu-rays with out a thought. It has directional pad so you can move about the settings, music, pictures, and other functions for you PS3. When you slide open the remote, the first thing you'll feel is the R1/2 and L1/2 on the side, second, you'll notice a full-keyboard with a mini joystick on the left and right surrounded by the buttons that a regular controller would have. Once, you get skilled enough you can play a game with this remote. The Text Link has a rechargeable battery and the plugs are interchangeable with that of a PS3 controller.

What's in the box:

  • 1 Text link Remote
  • 1 USB Dongle
  • 1 USB charge cable 1m (3')

The Good:

The Text Link looks awesome, and is plug and play. What I also like about Hyperkin is that they make their items compatible with a PC, I watched movies on my computer and it worked just fine . I also tried out the typing and it was good. I was very happy to see a backspace key.

The Bad:

I have "Fat Finger Frustration" it takes quite a bit to get used to the typing on the key board but it doesn't hinder you in the light. It will be a while before you can type in the dark.

The Ugly:

When your texting there is a blue LED light that is so bright you have to put black tape on it or it will stop you in your tracks. I really suggest for the next model putting the blue light on the side so it will shine over the keys and you can type in the dark.

The End:

Hyperkin Text Link for the Sony PlayStation 3 is a good looking remote with many functions from controlling your Blu-ray/DVD features to scrolling all the media files and settings you have. It's fairly easy to use on your PS3 or PC. It works on a 2.4 GHz freq. and about a distance of 8m(30') and it wok fine. This is perfect for anyone who uses the full features of their PS3 and a necessary piece if you are to make your PlayStation 3 a home entertainment center. The functions this remote gives you the price is right at $34.99USD. I give this a TOV 3.5 out of 5, it's the blue light I tell ya.
