Hey gang, Valkor here. In the world of mobile phone accessories, in order to stand out, a company would have to do something completely different than just simply produce the standard cable, power bank, or case. They would have to do something that’s definitely gonna draw public attention. Enter TYLT, who have produced a charging cable that fans of both iOS and Android can appreciate. Check it out, it’s the FLYP Duo.
So you’re a mobile user who has embraced both Android and iOS devices. You’ve got the latest gadgets of both worlds, but charging the two together can be a hassle - especially when you’re on the go because you’re carrying multiple cables and you might have to find outlets for both sets. Then there’s the matter of if you’re on either side of the Android or iOS fence that someone will ask if you have a charger they can borrow, but you only have one for your device, which isn’t compatible with theirs. There are so many different scenarios when dealing with multiple devices and cables, which thankfully TYLT has solved. Enter the FLYP Duo. It’s essentially a MicroUSB plug with an added Lightning tip attached along the side. The Lightning tip then piggybacks off of the MicroUSB allowing it to connect to any iOS device that makes use of it, which you can then attach to a charging adapter or plug it into a PC for charging/syncing. So if you do own both an Android and an iOS device (that uses the Lightning plug), then all you’ll need is the FLYP Duo cable as a single charging/syncing solution.
The FLYP Duo takes advantage of both devices fast transfers when syncing; I’ve yet to run into any issues when transferring my media over to my Nexus 6. And then the same can be said when plugged into an iPhone 6 as transferring date was seamless. The length of the cable, which also comes in four colors, runs roughly three feet (you can also get it at 1 ft), so you have more than enough slack to stretch about. Plus the cable is made of a silicon rubber so there’s less tangles to deal with.
But we’re not done yet! Lastly the FLYP Duo’s USB end is reversible; this means so matter which way you plug the cable into your laptop or adapter, it’ll fit straight away. One of my biggest worries when plugging anything into the USB port is not just putting it in wrong, but also somehow breaking the tip because I popped it in incorrectly. At least in this instance I don’t have to worry about such a thing.
TYLT has had a couple of stints in the TOV Val-Cave – both reviews were very positive. And you can check them out over at the side bar on the right. Is the FLYP Duo going to be the 3rd winner for TYLT? I’m gonna jump the gun and say yes. And I’ll tell you why in the TOV Breakdown!
The Bang:
The TYLT FLYP Duo is a great idea – not totally unique as there are plenty of cables that use multiple tips for different devices; but as a simple solution to bridge the gap between Android and iOS devices, the FLYP works perfectly and its probably one of the best mobile accessories you’ll want to invest in this year – or any year! Whether you own two kinds of either iOS or Android devices, or you wanna share with a coworker or classmate (makes for a great back to school gift item), then you’re in good hands. Personally, I only have Android devices, but when I’m at work I’m usually asked by coworkers if I have an iPhone charger. At least in this instance, I’ll have one handy. So the FLYP Duo works great in an environment with multiple users who have different devices. Finally, I’m all for the reversible cable, which I think many will appreciate not having to fumble with the cable when plugging in. Overall the TYLT FLYP Duo is insta-win in my book!

And if you’re looking for a simple, single cable solution that bridges the gap between two worlds, then I highly recommend picking one of these babies up either for yourself or as a gift to someone who could use it. And out of TOV 5 stars, I’m giving the FLYP Duo a 5 and it’s been Valkor tested, TOV Approved.
