Hey folks, Valkor here. We're closing in on Hallow's Eve, which
is always a fun night for all sorts of mischief and spookery.
But if your plans are to stay home and get spooked, then definitely
take a gander at number 10 in TOV's 15 films of Horror, which
comes from Japan – I know, another one! But Japan rules when it
comes to horror! And while Grotesque aka Gurotesku isn't one of
its more common ghostly affairs, it's sure gonna shock the hell
out of you. And a heads up, the trailer linked below is totally
NSFW and has tons of spoilers. Watch at your own discretion.

Grotesque revolves around Aki (Tsugumi Nagasawa) and Kazuo (Hiroaki Kawatsure) – just an average couple out for a night stroll, who are suddenly ambushed by an unknown (Shigeo Osako). When they awake, they realize they're strapped to a table and are about to take part in a lonely man's game of survival. If they can excite him, sexually, with their surviving skills, he'll let them go. Why is he doing all of this? He admits that he's rich, lonely, and this is how he gets his jollies off.

And that my friends is about all I need to say because, I can't or won't begin to describe some of the tortures this duo are put through. Do we have any fans of Hostel? Saw? Turista? Art of the Devil? Then Grotesque is a film you'll want to add into your collection.

The Good:
First of all, it's short – runtime is 73 minutes. Second it's pretty gory and maybe be too intense to watch some scenes. Again, I'm not gonna get it to it… ok maybe I'll give you one; think nails, a hammer, and Kazuo's scrotum. I wanted to cry! It's THAT intense! And that's not even the worst of it. Finally, I give it up to Shigeo's character for being an equal opportunist – When it starts, he gives Aki a gushing finger bang, and doesn't leave poor Kazuo hangin. Nice!

The Dick Move:
This is more towards the director or whomever made this choice, not a bad thing, but it catches you off guard kinda. Check it – Aki and Kazuo go through some serious shit, but ultimately able to please the guy. We switch to this white room, flowers, the unknown guy is even patching them up, and everything seems all right. Right? WRONG! Suddenly, the two are strapped once again to the tables and we're off for another round. Total dick move! I didn't see that coming!

The Ugly:
Nails… Scrotum… Need I say more?

Grotesque is a DEFINITE must see for anyone who are fans of the films mentioned above. It's gruesome, it's gory, and it will take you to the limits! Just be sure to get the unrated version, for the added blood and gore. Out of TOV 5 stars, I give Grotesque a perfect 5. Do you think you can handle it?
