Hey gang, Valkor here. And we’re kicking off our events calendar for 2016 with one of my favorites – The NY Luxury Tech Event; when I first attended oh so many moons ago, there were two events a year. But this year the event has not only been scaled back in terms of how many shows are in NY area (by their schedule, it’s just one), but overall exhibitors weren’t as many from previous events. In short, the LTS felt much smaller than previous shows. And while there wasn’t too much on hand, I still walked away with a few items of interest perfect for TOV coverage and in some instances, future reviews.
Astell & Kern – Astell and Kern – It’s been years since I’ve laid hands on a standalone portable digital audio player, but that's mainly due to the fact that most mobile phones are suitable replacements. Still if you want to enjoy your music in its purest, then you’ll want to check out Astell & Kern AK380 – if you’re ready to shell out the 3500 dollar price tag. The AK380 is made with “Aircraft Grade Duralumin” and it has some weight to it, with sharp edges. The GUI is pretty intuitive and easy to scroll through, plus you have a physical wheel for volume. I didn’t get the chance to spend too much time on the device as the Astell & Kern table was quite popular, but I was able to sample some of the device's audio, which was the sweetest audio to ever grace these ears of mine. But that price tag tho...
Cusquena – If there was ever a beer I needed to seek out, it would definitely have to be Cusquena Golden Lager, which was one of the smoothest beers to ever touch these lips. Brewed in Peru and served up for our enjoyment, Cusquena has a light, clear in color and taste fantastic! Now I don’t claim to know beer, but I know what tastes good. And this Cusquena beer tastes pretty damn good! Thankfully the company’s rep handed out a retail list for the areas. And if you’d like to learn more about the company and its beer, then give the name a click!
Remocam – We normally don't cover smart home products on the site, but it’s something that I’m slowly getting into because I’m beginning to see the benefit of it. Alacran has been working on his smart home for some time and thanks to the folks at Remocam, he’ll have a new toy to add to his repertoire. What makes Remocam different from most smart home surveillance cameras 1) it touts great range 335 degrees pan around and 95 degrees tilt 2) You can store videos either on the cloud or a microSD and 3) it acts as a universal remote, which I can’t wait to see how Alacran will utilize this device. Another impressive piece of tech the company was showcasing, though not yet ready for market is the Remopill; Remopill looks to change the way we handle our medication as it acts to alert you when it’s time to take your medication, when it’s time for a refill or it can even alert family members or caretakers in case you miss your slot (through a smartphone app). And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the device. But I’ll go more in-depth when the Remopill nears launch. Also, expect a full review of the Remocam from Alacran in the coming weeks.
Nuelle – Gentleman, you’re ever in the mood for love but your lady isn’t quite feeling it? Well, the folks at Nuelle are looking to help you with your pre-game before the main event. Enter Fiera, an “arouser for her”, is a tiny hands-free device that (according to the company’s press release) “incite sexual arousal and interest in women”. And from what I’ve been told, Fiera isn’t about bringing women to orgasm… but it can definitely get you ladies well on your way. Look for more from Fiera in the pages of “PerfectView”.
To top off the evening, RJ Miller aka “Walt Jr” of “Breaking Bad” was on hand to help the folks at Yamaha unveil their latest WaveRunner. Too bad his stay was short… or I didn’t stick around long enough. Either way, it was fun getting to see him at the show. And though the next LTS won’t take place in NY (it’ll be in Miami), I’ll do my best to make it in attendance because no matter what, the show is a lot of fun. And it allows me the chance to be a little fancy for a night. Stayed fellow readers, as we’ll have more from some of the companies mentioned above and look for more event coverage in the coming months.
