• Valentine's Day Movie Review

My fellow Epicians love is in the air. So with Valentine's Day 2010 around the corner your friendly neighborhood reporter decided to be a little romantic with his wife. And Epic-1 being the man that he is decides that he will take the little Mrs. 1 to watch a romantic comedy. Unfortunately, Wolfman was sold out so we went to see Valentine's Day by Garry Marshall.

Valentine's day

Valentine's Day features a lot of star power with stars like Ashton Kutcher, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, George Lopez, Shirley Maclaine, Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift and Mr. Marshall's good luck charm the man who appears in all of his movies, Hector Elizondo (Thank you Lopez Tonight for that trivia). So you would think with so much star power that this movie would be great, well it was not great, but it was good. The movie revolves mostly around Reed Bennett (Ashton Kutcher) an owner of a flower boutique in Los Angeles, who just proposed to Morley (Jessica Alba). It's also about his best friend, Julia (Jennifer Garner) who thinks she is in love with a divorcee Dr. Harrison Copeland, (Patrick Dempsey) all taking place on Valentine's Day. There are other stories that revolve around the main one such as Edison (Bryce Robinson) a young kid who shows up at the flower shop to buy flowers for the girl that makes his heart go pitter patter, and also Alphonso (George Lopez) who works at the shop delivering flowers (and funny things happen every now and then when he is on screen). The movie goes on and Reed finds out that Morley is not ready to marry him, he finds out that Dr. Copeland is not really divorced and he must tell Julia the truth before she gets hurt. The ending of course is happy for almost everyone in the movie but then we also have the twist that made me go HOLY SHIT!!! I definitely didn't see it coming and neither will you.

The Good

Valentine's Day story is pretty good and it is romantic enough to take your girl to for dinner and a movie, plus the twist will blow your mind. The story behind most of the characters are well revolved around one another and that makes the movie that much more interesting. The acting was good in whole; George Lopez actually stole the show in, my opinion, with the few lines that he had he made the movie flow with all the good advice he gave Reed. Also he had the funniest clip of the movie when Reed and he had to deliver so many more flowers and Reed wanted to go stop Julia. Alphonso said I have a cousin who has a Chevy you can use and it is only a few blocks away, and then when they get there and the Chevy is of course a Chevy low rider. So Reed goes to the rescue in a Chevy low rider that bounces up and down West Coast style.

The Bad

Valentine's Day is a romantic comedy with not enough comedy. You have some funny people in this movie like George Lopez, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, and some people think Ashton is funny, they should have been used a little bit more in humorous spots.

Valentine's day

The Ugly

This is definitely a movie you must see with your significant other because a real man would never see this movie alone.

Valentine's day

So in conclusion, go get a little romantic with your significant other bite the bullet and watch it. I give Valentine's Day a 3.5 out of 5 stars and it has been Epic-1 tested and TOV approved!!!!
